About the adventure

Welcome to Fort Solace in the independent province of The Wasteland, an ever-developing town looking to grow amidst the wide barren landscape of the Wasteland. Drawn in by the promise of free land, you have come to Fort Solace to find a new life that couldn't be found in the Empire or anywhere else in the Old World. But miles away from the city of Marienburg and civilization, settlement life on the coastline of the Sea of Claws proves more difficult than you had hoped. They call the town The Wasteland's first light, for its large lighthouse is the first thing sailors see coming into the port of Marienburg. The First Light of Fort Solace is an original West Marches inspired by City Building games, with a touch of survival on the frontier and the wild west in its veins. Protect Fort Solace, watch it grow, own some land, start up a business, or make a profit. The choice is yours. The first week of play will be free to give you a taste of the story and my GMing style.

About me

Hello, I'm Brandon! I have been playing TTRPGs for over 10 years and have seen an array of systems since my teenage years ever since picking up my first ever Dark Heresy book. I am interested in the universe of Warhammer, both 40k and fantasy, and love any systems that covers the occult and modern fantasy. My favorite systems are Warhammer Fantasy, Rogue Trader, Unknown Armies, Delta Green and World of Darkness. Ever since my adolescent years, TTRPGS has consumed itself as the peak of my nerdy interests. I got involved with a Warhammer 40k roleplaying club and played from Dark Heresy all the way to Only War. Subsequently, I got into its fantasy equivalent and clung to that pretty fast. When I'm not behind the GM screen, I like to watch movies with my partner on the couch and give my kitten plenty of scratches. I am on the autism spectrum and take no mercy on telling people of my hyper fixations on my interests in film, history, video games, and naturally: TTRPGS. I consider myself a cinephile and writer at heart. Whatever I put into my games, it's most likely inspired by the various media I have watched.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create characters on Discord. I will share a form-fillable PDF for players to use. We will create characters using the standard methods in the book. Players will be starting from scratch and the beginning of their careers.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All you need to use is Discord. Knowledge of the rules is not required as I can walk you through how the game is played. Dice rolls will happen in-chat using Jodri, a roll-dice bot made for WFRP. Discord server here: https://discord.gg/k4ANgYFPb - pop in and say hi.

What DMBrandon brings to the table

I will provide digital copies, digital maps, a music bot, dice bots, and fillable character sheets to use.

Safety

How DMBrandon creates a safe table

Players should expect something directly from a WFRP game. Blood, gore, intrigue, and mystery. All that fun grim darkness stuff. I will host a Session 0 that will go over player expectations and boundaries. I feature mature content, but I never include explicit sex scenes and will always fade to black. There is likely to be some gory scenes and we will discuss boundaries around a Session 0. We will use X, N and O cards to allow players to indicate when content is too triggering and we will roll back, fade to black, or change course to make sure everyone feels safe. This is done completely without judgement and includes the Open Door so anyone can take a break without fear of judgement. At the end of the game we will check in for some aftercare and a debrief and I will ask for some feedback.
