About me

Howdy! I'm Matty. My history with Dungeons & Dragons starts when I was 10 years old. My father used to play in college with all of his best friends, and when I was old enough to comprehend the game, he taught me and my sister! I played on and off from the age of 10-16 with my dad and his college friends at our annual summer vacations, then life picked up and I honestly forgot about Dungeons & Dragons. Cut to 5 years ago on an acting contract and someone in the cast mentioned Dungeons & Dragons and it all came flooding back to me. Ever since, I dove head first into playing, DMing, and absorbing all the content. I take a lot of inspiration from Matthew Mercer, Brennan Lee Mulligan, Aabria Iyengar, Travis Vengroff, Matt Colville, Brian Murphy, and Jasmine Bhullar to name a few! I've worked as a an actor for over 10 years and I believe all the skills I've learned (and am still learning) lend themselves very well to the role of Dungeon Master. I love being able to use improv skills to volley with players as they dive headfirst into the story. I love using my words, voices, and sounds to create a beautifully rich, and detail oriented world to fully immerse the players in a world that truly feels alive. If that is something that peaks your interest, I'll see you at the table.

Character creation

Creating your character

Make a 1st level character, and have it approved in the discord! (Once you are approved you will receive a link to join the campaign and submit your character!) If you don't know where to start with a character we can build one together over discord, or you can pick from a pre generated character!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Definitely need a webcam and a mic! I believe that being able to look at the people you're interacting with deepens the experience and enriches the story! Be familiar with standard D&D 5e rules, if you are a newer player we will go over those during Character Creation/Session 0. You will need access to Roll20, and I don't have a preference on digital vs. beautiful shiny math rocks. I trust my players to be honest with their rolls.

What Matty brings to the table

I will bring all the maps, and materials for the combats and RP sessions! I will also help facilitate the search/creation of character art. I provide tons of lore and wild npc's and voices and sounds to immerse you in the world! I will set up the Discord server, create a DnDbeyond campaign for content sharing, supply pre-generated characters, and anything else needed for an online gaming session. If you have any requests, feel free to let me know in advance, and I'll do my best to accommodate them. The safety and enjoyment of my players are my top priority!
