About me

Howdy! I'm Matty. My history with Dungeons & Dragons starts when I was 10 years old. My father used to play in college with all of his best friends, and when I was old enough to comprehend the game, he taught me and my sister! I played on and off from the age of 10-16 with my dad and his college friends at our annual summer vacations, then life picked up and I honestly forgot about Dungeons & Dragons. Cut to 5 years ago on an acting contract and someone in the cast mentioned Dungeons & Dragons and it all came flooding back to me. Ever since, I dove head first into playing, DMing, and absorbing all the content. I take a lot of inspiration from Matthew Mercer, Brennan Lee Mulligan, Aabria Iyengar, Travis Vengroff, Matt Colville, Brian Murphy, and Jasmine Bhullar to name a few! I've worked as a an actor for over 10 years and I believe all the skills I've learned (and am still learning) lend themselves very well to the role of Dungeon Master. I love being able to use improv skills to volley with players as they dive headfirst into the story. I love using my words, voices, and sounds to create a beautifully rich, and detail oriented world to fully immerse the players in a world that truly feels alive. GM Style

Discord will be used to communicate clearly with each other while Roll20 and DnDBeyond serve as rolling engines, character sheets, and sound, as well as the use of artwork or battle maps to aid in painting each location. 🎭 Role-Play: is my favorite. I love creating characters, dynamics, plot, and voices for you to play with. ⚔️Combat: sometimes, you just want to swing a sword and cast a fireball! We will use Gridded maps for combats, but Theater of the Mind will be used if the combat surprises us all! 🌎Exploration: the worlds I play in will be expansive and rich. Dig in, delve into the dungeon, look behind the door, pull back the curtain! 📖Rules: they provide the skeletal structure for play, that being said, I will change a rule situationally/permanently if I feel it benefits everyone's experience at the table. I will be "Rules as Written" if the decision in the moment is something that could change the course of the campaign, otherwise "Rule of Cool" will always be used to reward creativity and immersion. I will always defer to the official system, however, if there is some home-brew material you love, let me know and we'll throw it into consideration!
