About the adventure

Five hundred years ago, clans of dwarves and gnomes made an agreement known as Phandelver’s Pact, by which they would share in a rich mine, in a wondrous hidden cavern. In addition to its mineral wealth, the mine contained great magical power. Human spellcasters allied themselves with the dwarves and gnomes to channel and bind that energy into a great forge, where magic items could be crafted. Times were good, and the nearby human town of Phandalin (fan-du h-lin) prospered as well. Then disaster struck! Orcs swept through the North and laid waste to all in their path. To make matters worse They were reinforced by evil mercenary wizards, lust for power and riches in their eyes. In a ferocious battle, they attacked. The human wizards fought alongside their dwarf and gnome allies to defend the prized magical cavern. After it was all said and done, the ensuing battle destroyed much of the cavern, and few survived the cave-ins and tremors. The location of the cavern was lost through the ages. The story of the Phandelver Mine slowly turned from fact and history to fiction and story that is told by many bards and searched for by magic depraved magicians and sorcerers.

About me

Hello adventurers and welcome to a fun and immersive tabletop experience. I have been a tabletop player for 5 years and a DM for 4 years. I have run sessions for different groups, age ranges, play styles and more. I love to introduce the game to those playing for the first time but also running adventures for those that are more experienced. Due to the pandemic, most of my experience has been with virtual tabletops (VTTs) particularly Roll20 as I believe it to be one of the easier one to use. I also have had the opportunity to DM in person for multiple different one-shots for charities benefiting the Orlando (FL) area and plan to continue that experience in the future. These different experiences have allowed me to grow both as a player and a DM and to create sessions/adventures better tailored to the players at the table! For the storytellers, role players, and gameplayers, I strive to create an adventure that can capture each persons goal for a session and ultimately create an experience that will stay in your memory! For this, I believe that unfriendly and rudeness can ruin the experience for others and ask that each person is prepared to be respectful and open to others discussion and ideas. The biggest skill I have as a DM is the ability to improvise and respond to the players wants and needs for a gaming experience.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character levels will be set to level 2 and will be created on DnDBeyond. This can occur prior to the session or during the session 0 and I can assist in the creation process if needed. This also allows for dice rolls to be made on DnDBeyond to keep everything in one place for consistency. I also have multiple pre-generated characters that players can choose from to help streamline the character creation process. Players can them make modification to the pre-gen characters with acknowledgement from myself.

The current party

Every other week come and join for a beginner-friendly campaign of the Lost Mines of Phandelver. Travel to the city of Phandalin to discover the secrets hidden beneath the surface. Either bring your character or select from a pre-gen character on DnDBeyond that you can then make your own. I am open to most things and if you want to play something specific, just send me a message and we can work it out!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need to create a DnDBeyond account and have a character they have created. A mic is required, but a webcam is optional although recommended. Additionally, a Discord account and a Roll20 account will be needed to access audio/video (discord) as well as the maps and tokens to better visualize encounters (roll20).

What Kyle brings to the table

I will be providing the adventure and GMing. I will have different encounter maps prepped and ready for the session along with discussion with the players on making sure the experience is fun and enjoyable to all! I have found that finding artwork that you believe shows off your image of your character also helps to immerse yourself and the other party members!

Safety

How Kyle creates a safe table

Prior to the session, we will have a session 0 to discuss basic expectations of myself as well as the players. I ask for respect for and from each and every person at the table with the understanding that people make mistakes or might misunderstand. These things happen and it is okay. After each session, I ask for a short period of discussion to debrief and return our minds back into ourselves and out of our characters mindset as well as providing each of us an opportunity to respond to positives/negatives that may have occurred during the session. I also leave it open to players to send me messages if they do not feel comfortable openly discussing something in the moment. Finally, I understand criticism and wish to hear how everyone felt as it is my belief that it can only help myself grow to become an even better GM for future sessions.
