About the adventure

🏔️ A tale of dark terror threatening the otherwise peaceful Ten-Towns area 🏔️ Icewind Dale was never a warm place. But after two years of winter, it's becoming clear something is off - and it must be fixed fast. Auril's eternal night is driving people mad and leading more than a few to desperate measures that include, among other things, ritual sacrifice. Cults trying to appease the fallen goddess have popped up, trying to take matters to their own hands. As if that wasn't enough, the wildlife has gone insane and previously abandoned ruins are seeing new life... of the wrong kind. As part of a group of adventurers new to the Ten-Towns area you're out to prove your worth, and few ways are better than looking into several of the strange happenings — ranging from murder to missing creatures — to earn the trust of its people. Only one thing leads to another and soon enough you find yourself in way too deep, dealing with a fallen goddess and her desire to cling onto power she long lost. You know, just another day in the Forgotten Realms. A level 1-10 horror romp through Icewind Dale, great for new and experienced players alike.

About me

Experienced fantasy/comedy writer and GM helping others get into tabletop. My experience as a writer, along with studies on plot and character development and stage experience as an actor and singer, are all put here in service of telling you a story that's memorable and creating a world where you'll be the protagonist. All of my experience and knowledge is at your disposal, and new players will receive guidance not only on how to create characters, but how to better develop them into full, believable people I specialize in bringing out the funny, the quirky, and the odd in campaigns. Reacting to players' actions isn't only a part of the job for me, but my favorite part of it - creating situations and shaping the storyline between the players and the GM is the heart of tabletop roleplaying. If you're laughing or surprised, I've done my work. If you can come out of my table having learned the rules of the game and becoming a fine roleplayer, I've done my work. All my games are LGBTQ+ friendly, and my tables are safe spaces where people from all walks of life are welcome.

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll be creating characters during Session 0, and I'll be available for any help. Creativity and inventiveness when creating characters is both appreciated and encouraged - if I can make any arrangements so your character can function as you'd like, I will, even if it means ignoring or rewriting some written rules. Character stat points can be assigned using standard array or point buy. Dice rolling for stats is not allowed. If you want to create a new character, having an idea of the archetype you'd like to play is ideal, along with some knowledge of your character's origins and personality. I can help you flesh it out during character development. You can also bring characters created on your own if you wish, but it's not necessary - as I'm here to help guide you both on the technical and the creative aspects of character creation.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Access to Discord and a working microphone is a must. Please make sure your microphone indeed works as needed, since troubleshooting your setup during a session robs the other players from their playtime. You can download discord from https://discord.com/ The campaign will be run through Fantasy Grounds, and we'll be using that software to create and keep track of your characters and their abilities. You can download the demo version of Fantasy Grounds from http://www.fantasygrounds.com/, which will be enough for the campaign - no purchase is necessary.

What Tizzy brings to the table

I'll be bringing my own Discord server with a bot set up for dice rolls. I also own the sourcebooks on both Beyond and Fantasy Grounds, and have the DM and player's guide at hand to help answer any doubts and with character creation.

Safety

How Tizzy creates a safe table

I focus on the experience rather than number-crunching and favor creativity over rules. You can expect a fast-paced, relatively rules light but RPG heavy experience from me. I'm high on comedy and funny situations while doing my best to adapt the story so each character gets some level of development and advancement of their backstory and personal goals. All of my campaigns are illustrated - besides having maps when necessary, players are shown reference images of the places they're visiting and people they're meeting as a means to help them get into their characters and the worlds they inhabit. ------------------------- Safety Information ------------------------- Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, while a dark campaign, has my usual touch - one where dark content is often made lighter in the name of providing a fun, safe environment for all players. That's not to say there's nothing anyone could be triggered by in the campaign, as the horror subject matter naturally carries several potential triggers of its own, including violence and murder - things you would generally expect in a Dungeons & Dragons campaign, but that might prove difficult for some people to deal with. On top of this, there's naturally a chance of unexpected story beats happening in freeform campaigns that could add potentially triggering situations to the campaign. As a GM, I have very specific lines I will not cross - sexual violence and violence against children among them. Yet there are plenty of things outside those subjects that could prove stressful or triggering for some players. To help us avoid such situations as a group, we will host a discussion about lines, veils, and potential triggers during session zero. Just as well, we'll repeat said discussions several times during sessions to ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone in the group. To help players deal with potential stress resulting from in-game situations, sessions can be stopped at any moment if a player feels triggered, even if the situation creating it wasn't one discussed before and thus not one of the previously agreed-on lines or veils. It is my duty to offer you the safest experience I can, and I'll hold myself to it.
