About the adventure

πŸͺ Exotic Locales...See the Sights!! πŸ‘€ πŸ§™β€β™€οΈ Colorful Characters...Meet the Locals!! πŸ‘¨β€πŸŒΎ πŸ›• Visit the Radiant Citadel...Travel the Multiverse!! 🌌 In the heart of the Ethereal Plane lies an ancient and mysterious city called the Radiant Citadel. Through tradition, cooperation, and ancestral magic, fifteen civilizations are bound to this wondrous site. Here, heroes and paupers meet on equal footing: by common agreement, power and resources are equitably shared. Dignity is afforded to all, and great need is met with great aid. The Radiant Citadel is a living relic of the ingenuity and collaboration of twenty-seven great civilizations--of which only fifteen remain. It stands bright as a bastion of hope against the unending mist and unseen terrors of the Ethereal Plane. Abandoned and lost for ages, the Citadel was resurrected from its slumber and reclaimed by descendants of those ancient societies, though some peoples remain missing. The city serves as a nexus of diplomacy and trade, a repository of histories and secrets, and a thriving sanctuary for those seeking safety or a better life. The gates of the Radiant Citadel stand open, and a rich tapestry of stories is yours to explore. Journeys through the Radiant Citadel is an anthology of exciting adventures that explore the cultures and myths of these realms. From glittering night markets to undersea cities, from curse-afflicted villages to angel-ruled city-states, these adventures provide a pathway to never-before-seen lands and stories. What journey will you embark upon with me? Who will you meet along the way? What magnificent sights will you see?

About me

Hey, nice to see you!! I'm Bandeena: a part-time GM who started as a writer and a player, looking to incentivize myself to perfect this craft of Storytelling. For me, TTRPGs are the perfect tool for collaborative writing with a complex prompt--the ultimate Choose-Your-Own Adventures--but in truth they're something much more than that. D&D is social and therapeutic, providing friendship and creativity at a time when it seems the whole world is scared and barely scraping by. I started TTRPGs as many do: as a player in a D&D game. I was 17, and I was playing with a cadre of mixed-generational LGBTQ+ and POC inclusive community college students. It was magical. But when I went to university far from home, I had to leave that behind and find my own people in a new place. That's when I became a GM. I collected my colorful bag of players like dice, and built some true, lasting friendships. It's been more than a decade since then. While I intend to focus on running D&D 5e for the foreseeable future, my first game DMing was 3.5e D&D. I tried my hand at some White Wolf content in the years since, but D&D and Pathfinder were my bread and butter. I took a break for several years to get married, have kids, work a soul-sucking corporate job...and then, in the height of the pandemic, 5e shined some light back into my life. It helped me to refocus on home, family, and happiness. And I want to share it and some of the happiness it's brought me, as I used to in ages past. This is how I approach my games: I set the scene on the frame of [usually published] material--I describe it, fill it with scripted meat-bags, gather together a band of merry players...and then my players breathe life into it all. Together, we shape the world we visit weekly as an escape or an outlet (it's something different to everyone). We make it our own, and with each game, something unique and beautiful is crafted. I try to cater the story and difficulty to each party, and make each experience custom.

Character creation

Creating your character

See the details on the right toolbar. Generally speaking, stats are generated via point buy or standard array, and player characters are allowed one starting feat. Starting with two feats is disallowed. For one shots, come prepared with a character already made (if you need help with this, message me). For campaigns, come with ideas that can be flexible, and it's suggested you don't fully craft your character until then. Either way, review my house rules and Session 0 doc (which you will receive upon joining) before we sit down to meet as a group for the first time.

The current party

Every year, the Awakening Festival draws folk from across the rich expanse known as Godsbreath, uniting celebrants as they tell their history in song and set the course for the upcoming year. You have come to Promise, Godsbreath's largest settlement, for the Festival, either because you're a native or you're accompanying traders--or you might even be there by invitation. This annual celebration is marked by the multiday Awakening Song, a communal retelling of the land's history and a memorial to those who've passed on. During the festival, stalls throughout the community sell local crafts, musical instruments, and street foods. Small straw dolls that can be made to resemble the buyer--a wildly popular local craft--are widely available. Spicy curries are enjoyed out of small paper cups meant to be carried, and skewers of roasted meats and vegetables are sold by the handful. Musicians play instruments of many kinds in the streets, often selling instruments as well. Their performances meld together as passersby join in during choruses, uniting the entire community in a single collective celebration--the Awakening Song. You're participating in this festival when the mood turns grim, as a group of farmers suddenly turns violent. The crowd disperses in a mad panic, but one brave woman stands her ground to defend the peace and sanctity of the festival: Aunt Dellie, your friend. Dellie is a trader and skimmer boat pilot who has an honest reputation, a soft heart, and a talent for hearing a bit about everyone's troubles...and then doing everything she can to help. She is no warrior. But, as it turns out, she has a beloved goddaughter, Kianna, who is a farmer at the very farm the attackers came from. Aunt Dellie needs your help to find Kianna and make sure she's safe! Furthermore, the Awakening Festival needs your help, or the prospects for the upcoming year will be bleak indeed. Won't you step up? This is a 3rd Level short adventure called "Written in Blood" from the anthology known as "Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel", in which your party begins their adventure in a city called Promise, during a week of celebrations known as the Awakening Festival. For character creation, you are to build a RAW Level 3 adventurer with Standard Array or Point Buy using official published content. You may have 1 bonus feat at level 1, but you may not start with more than that single feat. In addition to your starting gear, you have an additional 50gp with which to purchase additional gear, including magic items. Further creation instruction and (very minimal) house rules are available in my discord server, which you will gain access to when you join the game. I hope to see you soon!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should have accounts with Discord and Roll20. A working knowledge of Discord is advised, as is a computer for accessing the Virtual TableTop (VTT) I use, which is called Roll20 (rather than accessing it through mobile). It is recommended that you install the Discord application, but it can be used through a browser, and Roll20.net is fully browser based as well. If you're hosting your character on DnDBeyond for any reason, you will also need to install Beyond20.

What Bandeena brings to the table

I bring the game! I also have nearly all the current WotC source material available on DnDBeyond for Beyond20 implementation, as well as in your game's Roll20 compendium, ready for easy character creation. In addition to all this, I work with artists who are available to commission custom token art for your characters at discounted prices.

Safety

How Bandeena creates a safe table

Expect fast-paced and narrative combat encounters, with lots of dungeons and inter-party RP. This can be a one shot or a campaign; and it can start at any level up to 15 and run for any length of time, which will be specified in the game notes on the right side of your browser window. If this is listed as a one-shot, the details of the adventure will be there as well. Once you join a one shot in this series, you will be provided all the links you need to review my house rules and my Session 0 doc. Because there's no time for a full Session 0 on a one-shot, it's important that you look for these links prior to the start of the session. If this is listed as a campaign, a more exhaustive Session 0 will take place in which the party creates characters together and gets to know one another (safety and gaming preferences take up a large part of Session 0 as well). After that, any time a new player is added, game time will be allotted to develop and grow as a team. D&D is a human game first, and I emphasize that very strongly in my games. You will be provided links to my Discord server, which hosts all my games and information, once you join.
