About the adventure

Your family has unusual interests and obsessions, but you're not evil, just misunderstood. After too many incidents involving peasants, pitchforks and torches, you've taken to heart the family motto - Noli Turbare Vicini (Don't disturb the neighbors). You keep your hobbies and appetites in check (mostly). But when the annual Halloween seance with great-great-great-grandpa goes awry and "something else" shows up in the summoning circle, you and your family must solve the problem quickly and quietly, or your nice suburb will turn against you - if it survives. Fortunately, this is the one night of the year you can be yourselves in public. THE CAST: Clemence Gastly - necromancer. Indigo Gastly - teenage witch. Logan Gastly - dhampir. Nit Gastly - 'goyle. Leo daSilva - mad scientist. Smith - Leo's monster. Olayinka - shifter. Kayin Kuo - Logan's pet spider.

About me

What I provide: A game that fits your group. A laid-back, friendly approach that welcomes new players. Organization, focus, and online tools to help you tell your story. My intro to d&d was three beige books in a little white box , in 1978. My first hobbit thief was trampled to death by a herd of were-elk. Despite that setback, I persevered and have been DMing, and occasionally playing, ever since. I launched ColoradoGamemaster.com in 2019 to GM professionally in person, just in time for the Great Plague to make that impossible. StartPlaying and online platforms came along at just the right time, allowing me to bring my games to people around the globe.

Character creation

Creating your character

You'll be playing as members and associates of the Gastly family; characters will be provided.

The current party

Choose a character: Clemence Gastly, practical-minded necromancer and head of the family. Logan Gastly, her adult son, afflicted with a bit of vampirism. Just a bit. Indigo Gastly, her teenage daughter, new age valley witch. Nit Gastly, adopted child, formerly baroque statuary. Dr. Leo daSilva, Logan's therapist, scientist who is definitely not mad. Smith, Dr. daSilva's monster. Kayin Kuo, Logan's pet spider, awakened and grown big by a magical accident. Olayinka, live-in cook and maid. Half troll, half gnome, and occasionally wolfish.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Microphone and Discord required. You'll get a link to the Owlbear Rodeo table, which requires no account, just click and you're there. You'll need a way to print your character sheet (any spreadsheet opener, like Excel, Microsoft Office, or LibreOffice can open and print it).

What Keith brings to the table

Pitchforks and torches, just in case.

Safety

How Keith creates a safe table

Despite the horror tropes, this lighthearted romp is great for families to play together. Lots of roleplay and cleverness, a bit of combat. The Radiance RPG system will feel familiar to anyone who's played D&D, and is easy to learn for those who haven't. I have an anonymous safety monitor token on the mapboard, that anyone can move from "we're fine" to "caution" or "stop!" if anything in the gameplay or content is making them uncomfortable. I want your CHARACTER to occasionally be terrified, frustrated, angry, confused or sad - and to push through and overcome it. I never want YOU to feel that way at my table.
