Dark Sun (D&D 3.5) - Chaos and Oblivion
About the adventure
Summary This campaign is developed as a long-term arc in the Dark Sun Setting. While it begins in the city of Balic, in the Tablelands, the players can expect to travel across the range of dangerous locations the setting offers and face an array of foes. The world of Athas is extremely deadly, so players should be ready to deal with a wide range of dangers; adversaries, monsters, natural elements, the occasional trap, and even the nature of the world itself. Full Description Dark Sun takes place the burnt world of Athas, life is cheap and freedom is fleeting. Few understand this better than the downtrodden of the City-State of Balic. Sitting on the edge of the Silt Sea, Balic is ruled by the cruel Sorcerer-King, Dictator Androphonis; whose reign is held up by a farce of an election centuries prior. Balic is a place of trade and immense wealth; but only to the few. For the rest, life is harsh, resources are scarce, and hope is fleeting. This is a game for players with at least some familiarity with the Dark Sun setting and a decent familiarity with the D&D 3.5 rules set. It utilizes elements from Athas.org to update the setting to 3.5. The themes that will be explored are those of survival, struggle, and dread. Players will face down unimaginable odds as the game moves forward, but will have the opportunity to change the face of Athas forever. Resources will be scarce and must be tracked. Fail-forward will be in effect. Additionally, there will be a game resource allowing players to adjust the results of rolls but using it will give the GM more resources. The X-Card and Lines & Veils will be used to ensure this grim dark campaign is in a safe environment.

About me
Hello, gamers! They call me 'Doc.' With four decades of gamemastering under my belt, I've had the pleasure of exploring over 200 different role-playing systems—many of which span multiple editions and encompass a wide array of genres and sub-genres. My background is rich in the dramatic arts, including nearly 40 years in drama training, 20 years performing in improvisational comedy, and over 8 years in voice acting. As a Game Master, my approach is player-character-driven storytelling, whether I'm weaving through a pre-written saga or crafting something entirely new. I strive to create entertaining and memorable interactions, develop engaging NPCs, formidable monsters, and villains that you love to hate. I'm excited to continue broadening the spectrum of games we dive into and to enhance your gaming experiences!

Proficiencies
Players say this GM is great at:
Inclusive
Voices
Storytelling
When I had to leave one of his campaigns (due to personal reasons) he offered to do one on one sessions with me! We've been friends ever since and we've both run campaigns for each other. He always makes sure that there are safety tools in place before we start and makes your character feel like they're a part of the world.
Character creation
Creating your character
Players are encouraged to begin to familiarize themselves with the process of character creation using the resources offered. Prior to the campaign start, a Session 0 or conversation with the GM over Discord will occur to ensure that everything is in place.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should have an account with Discord and with Roll20. Additionally, a good mic and relatively quiet place to play are encouraged. It would also be useful to have the campaign resources available as PDFs.
