Dungeons and Dragons will always be a classic, no matter the edition. Having only ever experienced the game in 5th edition, I can't compare it to older gens, but I do absolutely love it. The available online tools for it are unmatched, the agency given to DMs invaluable, and the detailed lore and mechanics beloved by players. Support for homebrew and third party content is just the icing on the top. It's not a perfect system by any means, but nothing ever could be. The only thing holding me back from a full 5-star rating is solely how WotC and Hasbro have handled the property in the recent years, but the continued support for 3rd party content alongside official content is a shining light for the future of D&D.
Mike is always a delight to play with, either with him as a player or the DM. He always has fun and unique ideas for the story or mechanics. His ability to narrate intricate scenes and run intense combat within the same game is always a joy to experience. Mike always ensures his games are a safe space for everyone involved, and lets experienced players have their moments while also being patient and helpful with new players. Most of his games are roleplay focused and have led to some of the best scenes I have ever experienced. When he does run combat, though, he keeps that narration flowing throughout, letting players truly feel like they're in the combat, not just playing it. An amazing DM overall, and very much worth your time.
