Fishy is an excellent GM for newbies looking to dip their toes in the hobby because he is incredibly supportive and understanding that nobody is born knowing rules or how to roleplay, so he helps people get their feet under them without pressure. He's very open to player-driven solutions to problems, and adaptable even when those solutions take a party off-piste and he has to ad-lib material. He clearly gets a kick out of player creativity, while also being willing to exercise control to prevent things spinning out of hand. Fishy takes player safety seriously, and makes use of both formal and informal safety tools, before and during games, and fosters an atmosphere of trust wherein players are empowered to wave their hand and say "actually, can we take a moment", either publicly or anonymously. Oh, and he has a lovely line in mapping. Full disclosure; I have played with Fishy on and off for several years. I know nobody else with the sheer enthusiasm and breadth of knowledge for gaming and game systems that he has (they exist, I know, but I don't know them :) )
