D&D is a classic for a reason. 5th Edition specifically is a fantastic rendition of the system, with a huge amount of options and combinations available to cater to every type of player, regardless of their preference. Do you want to explore space, there is something there for that. Want to venture into the horror filled world of vampires and monsters going bump in the night, there is a module for that too. You can't find the exact thing for what you are wanting, you can make it up yourself with plenty of resources to help. If you are looking to get into TTRPGs, you can't go wrong with Dungeons & Dragons!
Daggerheart is the game I wish I'd been playing all along. As much as I love other systems, the freedom to improvise with players and craft stories together feels even more natural in this game. Update: Having two campaigns running at the moment, with vastly different feels and tone, the versatility of the system is really a key factor for how well its been received. And as a new game without the huge amount of lore baggage that can come with systems that have been around for so long, crafting elements for my campaigns (Adversaries, environments, history etc) is so much larger a part of my day to day prep, it's helping me be a better GM all the time.
Having run this adventure before becoming a professional DM I look forward to sharing this seafaring adventure again. There are mysteries and puzzles to solve, places to infiltrate, plenty of villains to fight, and the sea to explore. There is a lot of emphasis on the tensions between the different groups at the story's centre as it slowly builds to a grand climax, and the players choices really help determine a lot of how that plays out.
Having run this module all the way through twice as a GM here on Startplaying, I have enjoyed running the story and characters immensely. The characters are vivid, the encounters are entertaining and challenging, and the added bonus is the rival party. Playing through an adventure with a rival group of adventurers hot on your heels is a wonderful addition to the story. Do they help you? Do they hinder you? That's up for the players to decide. The world of Critical Role is so rich and diverse, and with this adventure you get to experience so much of it.
