About me

I have been playing tabletop roleplaying games for more than forty years, beginning with the Dungeons & Dragons Basic Set back in 1982. What started as a summer camp hobby quickly became a lifelong passion for collaborative storytelling, immersive worlds, and memorable characters. Over the decades I have played and run games across multiple editions of Dungeons & Dragons as well as many classic RPG systems including Pathfinder, GURPS, Marvel Super Heroes, Gamma World, Star Frontiers, and more. While I spent most years as a primary Dungeon Master — including various organized play, convention games, and long-running Greyhawk campaigns such as Living Greyhawk and Greyhawk Reborn — I genuinely enjoy being a player just as much. As a player, I value strong roleplay, party cohesion, character development, and helping create memorable moments for everyone at the table. I enjoy games with rich lore, grounded worldbuilding, meaningful stakes, and immersive storytelling, but I am equally happy supporting newer players and helping everyone feel comfortable and engaged. My favorite settings and inspirations tend toward classic sword & sorcery, dark fantasy, political intrigue, exploration, and survival-focused adventures. Tonally, I enjoy campaigns inspired by classic TSR-era storytelling, Conan, The Witcher, and A Song of Ice and Fire, though I also appreciate lighter and more heroic games when the table calls for it. I currently play primarily online through Roll20 and Discord and have experience with both in-person and virtual tabletops. One of my goals on StartPlaying is to gain experience with VTT platforms I have not yet had the opportunity to use extensively, particularly Foundry and D&D Beyond Maps, while also connecting with new groups and play styles. I am also considering running professional campaigns on the platform in the future, so I enjoy learning from other Game Masters and seeing how different tables approach online play. I believe the best campaigns are collaborative experiences where everyone contributes to the story together, and I always strive to be reliable, engaged, respectful of the GM’s vision, and supportive of fellow players. Whether joining a long-running epic campaign or a short adventure, I’m ultimately here for the same reason I was back in 1982 sitting at a picnic table with friends and a boxed set: to help tell unforgettable stories together.
