I play in an Icewind Dale campaign with Ian and have an absolutely wonderful time! Starting with character creation, he really helped me dive into the character and give me some interesting hooks that tied me to the world. He is creative in his DMing choices, knows when to go with the flow, and when to stick to the rules. He would be excellent juggling a table with beginner or more experienced players. My favorite moments so far are roleplaying with different NPC's. It really makes the world feel very rich and alive. Something I like that Ian does are called campfire stories. We take turns writing a little background story about our characters and tell it to the group in moments of downtime in game. It has been an incredible way to get to know my own character better, and also my teammates. He definitely prioritizes story but we also have a lot of combat. 10/10 would recommend!
