So this is my review after one session, and I can say right off the bat that I enjoyed myself and plan to continue to come back to Darren's table. I think there are a few things that prospective players might find helpful to know. Darren runs combat off a dry-erase grid that is presented on camera and broadcast via Discord. New 'dungeon' rooms are drawn in as they are discovered by the players. There is something delightfully analog about this, and as a player who has been around since 2e I find that this scratches an itch that VTTs can't -- they are doing something different. However, players who are very VTT-oriented might think about trying a one-shot to see if this style works for them. Darren encourages players to be creative and engage in dialogue, but he also knows the rules well and is clear in presenting the rulings to players. I find this to be an excellent trait. My last observation is that Darren was communicative (via Discord) in the week leading up to my first session and that his campaign instance on D&D Beyond contains basically every official book and campaign setting (and some 3rd party resources), and these are shared with the players. This fact shows that the compensation for his services is also being rolled back into the game for the benefit of the players. If you are looking for an opportunity to engage in a game that has a kind of 'old-school' feel to its presentation while being a fully consistent 5e game, I would strongly recommend looking at Darren as an option.
