Gamma is an active and engaged GM who puts an incredible amount of care, personality and flavor into their games. They take advantage of whatever medium is being utilized to great effect. In person they have made effective use of table mats, will dress up from time to time and use custom props they crafted themselves. On virtual table-tops they have taught themselves to be proficient with Foundry and really takes advantage of the numerous extensions to create a vivid environment through the use of maps, dynamic visual elements, in-game tools and music. I have been a player at their table for over a decade now. Gamma’s theater roots are evident in the way they deliver lines and character interactions. This raconteur does the groundwork to create an intentional overarching story and create space for all of the PCs to fit into the world and feel like they matter. They are able to improvise off of this framework in a way that really makes it feel organic. Gamma often takes a “Yes and” approach which encourages players to be creative with their solutions in service of utilizing character strengths, abilities and backstories. Gamma is a GM who harkens back to 2nd edition D&D. They appreciate the pros and cons of the granularity of some rulesets versus the more simplified systems like 5e. They can run games by the books but really shines when adding their own custom items, abilities, incentives, lore, puzzles and minigames. They are adaptable to the preferred playstyle at their tables, and can strike a good balance between combat and RP. Danger is felt in the conflicts but the focus on RP and story elements is such that random and unsatisfying character deaths are not to be expected. I recommend Gamma for one-shots or campaigns in any system that they are familiar with.
