DJ has been my DM for a few months in a Dragonlance setting. He curated a lovely adventure, tailoring the world to let us all have a chance to feel enmeshed in the setting, have our heroic moments, and work together to solve puzzles. He's been very considerate, making sure everyone feels safe and well-informed along the way, with really clear expectations and good documentation. It was my first time using Avrae and he has been incredibly patient in showing me how to do what I want to achieve, keeping combat running smoothly and prevent the tools from becoming too clunky. I feel invested in the world, the characters and NPCs, and I'm looking forward to continuing with him on our next adventure.
Choosing three things Eryn does well is incredibly difficult. Their DMing style ticks all the boxes for me. They've recently created their own creative original universe and let us start off with a fun and flashy rule of cool intro so that they and our fellow players got to see the best in each other without too many of the encumbrances of level one play, but they're also great at the crunchy stuff, with an excellent repertoire of PBP tools and rules knowledge. They answer my (many) questions with patience and nuance, with a clear focus on creating a safe, inclusive environment where each of us get to shine. They do exceptionally well at creating an atmosphere, with conscious language choices, imagery, and suspense for the next bit of play. A beginner player would benefit greatly from their DM style, while veterans also will find plenty of unique style and knowledge to keep them entertained and flexing their role-playing muscle. I felt that my efforts in creative problem-solving and embodiment of my character were reflected tenfold. You get seven thumbs up from Zevrian, Eryn!
