I've played in his campaigns for several years now and always had a great time. It's always been clear that he would like everyone at the table to have a good time, it's never a power struggle or battle vs. the DM. He loves world building in the background which allows the players to go completely off in a random unexpected direction; we can find not only new quests but entire fleshed-out cityscapes to wander through in any direction. If you want a straightforward dungeon crawl, he's got that covered. If you want a year-long campaign to free the world from darkness, he's your man. If you're getting tired of your existing character after a while and want to go out in a blaze of glory remembered for 1,000 years, he'll support you all the way. And if the rules-as-written don't strictly allow something but you convince him it's a really cool cinematic move, odds are you'll be supported in your attempt - just don't crit fail. =) I've been playing various D&D editions for 30+ years and he's one of the best DMs I've had.
