I played in one of Joe's Daggerheart learn-to-play sessions and had an absolute blast! I was totally new to the Daggerheart system and to both Roll20 and Demiplane, but Joe guided us all through the setup and rules with patience and clear explanations. He has a strong grasp of the mechanics and was able to distill the basics down in a really beginner-friendly way. Our introductory adventure was super fun, with lots of opportunity for creative roleplay and some challenging combat. Joe's scene descriptions were great and we even got to hear some great NPC voices! I had a great time and hope to play at one of his tables again soon. And I'm now a big fan of Daggerheart too!
I had the privilege of attending a Gamemaster Workshop with Michelle here on StartPlaying, and had a fantastic experience! Not only is Michelle extremely knowledgeable about the ins and outs of running TTRPGs, but she was also very organized and kept a great pace for the workshop content. She took a ton of questions and even stayed after a bit to talk through some more specific GMing scenarios. And she provided excellent handouts and sample templates, which I found super useful. I really enjoyed Michelle's presence and communication style and I hope to participate more at her workshops or even maybe a game in the future!
I've had the privilege of playing with JP as both a tablemate and a GM! Whether he's playing a PC or rolling dice behind the GM screen, JP is a truly masterful player of the game. He is creative, imaginative, and incredibly skillful with in-character roleplay. He is also highly collaborative and open to creative (and sometimes chaotic!) party choices that make for great stories. I've learned a lot from him as both a player and a GM myself - it's been a real joy getting to know him around the table, and I highly recommend him to anybody looking for a fun, unforgettable game. Great for new players and experienced folks alike!
I've played with Max in over 70 sessions, and I've found him to be imaginative, collaborative, and very strong at bringing character personality to life. He also has a particular talent for delivering truly epic one-liners at just the right moment! Our party is approaching the end of our current campaign and already discussing our plans for the next one - I enjoy every session and can't wait to keep playing with Max. I highly recommend his tables to both experienced and beginner players looking for an immersive, engaging ttrpg experience!
I'm currently in James' biweekly Planescape game, and absolutely loving it. I've played with several other DMs, and one thing I really appreciate about James is his session structure. He has a consistent but flexible set of structure expectations and table rules that really help each session flow smoothly. The sessions open and close in the same way each time, with space for info-sharing, feedback, etc. His love for the Planescape/Sigil City setting is evident in his thorough prep, and he welcomes player creativity which is always fun. I'm a somewhat new player, approaching intermediate at this point, and I've appreciated James' patience and willingness to help us understand the rules or even how to best use our character's abilities (I was playing a new-to-me class and James offered up several very helpful suggestions that I could use to maximize my RP and my efficacy in combat). I would absolutely recommend James' tables for a new or experienced player, and I will certainly be keeping my eye open for more opportunities to play with him in the future. Great experience overall!
