I've been a player in nearly all of Vale's games since I met them, and they've all had something incredible and memorable about them. If it's not the fun characters that stick to you, it's all the fun and dramatic events that happen as campaign progresses. They also are really great at weaving in backstories into campaigns and often in surprising and interesting ways. Even years later, I really like to gush about their stories <3

As someone currently playing in one of his campaigns, and having played in another of his a year back, Derrick's a really good DM that comes up with some very creative scenarios! He's amazing at working with players to help flesh out their characters in the story. Give him some vague notions of a backstory and he can turn it into a fun arc to explore through! His world and especially the npcs are very fleshed out, so much so that it's kind of hard not to get attached to them. Or even on the flip side, his villains are dastardly, with an ever looming aura of threat, even if they haven't done much, y e t.
