Right from the first session, I could tell Riko's campaigns were something different. For one, his games are streamed publicly to twitch and his discord channel has a significant community going on. This connects your game to a larger D&D community. It's clear why his campaigns attract and retain experienced, talented players-- the content is taken seriously, and everyone is there for the same reason, to weave and participate in a rich story together.
I just jumped into an already-running campaign with Jordan (Glaive of the Revenant King). As a very new player, it took me a bit to get acclimated but by the end of the session we were all scratching our heads and trying to grill NPCs into revealing their lies & secrets so we could stave off destruction. We were solving an actual mystery and we all felt the suspense. My first session was fun RP-heavy but I'm sure Jordan is just as good at combat/mechanics. The groundwork is laid for a truly epic combat next session. Looking forward to it!
Played Drunken Heist with RJ after booking via StartPlaying. He was great! He was very patient-- we were very new to the game and we asked for plenty of detail on mechanics and whatnot so we could really learn the game. Beyond just answering our questions, giving us a taste from his experience "Some DMs do X or Y, I do it this way and here's why" that makes it clear he's seen every permutation. Got into character for the NPCs and painted the world in a way that made it feel larger than just one quest or one tavern. Would book again.
