About me
RJ Cresswell loves Dungeons & Dragons, and he wants to share his love of the game with you. He's played D&D for 28 years, but Fifth Edition is his favorite iteration of the rules. Since the release of D&D 5E, he's logged over 1000 hours of game-play as a dungeon master in multiple campaigns with players around his dining room table, at conventions, and on the Tainted Lands, Dead in Winter and Grimwode Saga actual play streams. In addition to serving as a DM, he also ran a D&D club for middle school students and has introduced hundreds of new players to the game. RJ believes in running games that are safe, inclusive and fun. GM Style
RJ takes a balanced approach to DMing because he realizes players value different aspects of D&D, and he works hard to make sure most of his sessions incorporate the three pillars of the game: roleplaying, combat and exploration. He also places a greater emphasis on cooperative storytelling and the experience of game over the rules as written. It's not that he doesn't respect the mechanics, he just values player agency and often errs on the side of the Rule of Cool.

Amazing times had with RJ. Me and my old co-workers play with him every month. We went through Dragon Heist and are now moving into Candlekeep Mysteries. He is a great "go with the flow" GM and allows us to travel off-book. Def a GM who allows for the "Rule of Cool" as well.

Fantastic storyteller! Does a masterful job of weaving characters stories together and giving opportunities for each player to take center stage. Great mix of roleplay and combat. Highly recommend for experienced or new players!

Had an amazing time in a Ravenloft oneshot with RJ! He was an engaging, fun, and attentive DM, and helped a group of strangers build a nice rapport over the course of the 3 hours of play! Made everyone at the virtual table feel involved and included, allowed for plenty of rule of cool moments, and definitely rewarded players who thought outside the box! 100% would play with him again! RJ is the best, coolest DM I've ever played with in my entire life. He's super knowledgable, super good at hilarious voices, super good at storytelling and being very fair with his judgments as a DM. He's also a great person. I will never play with someone else as my DM, and fully plan to fly out to play a game with him in person.

A fun 1 off this past Saturday night. The session was balanced between role playing, puzzles & combat. I appreciated how accommodating RJ was as to date & time as well as to the story. We just finished Tomb of Annihilation as 11th level characters and wanted the 1 off to roughly make sense in our current story line. And RJ delivered. The session was inclusive, fun and included lots of laughs. Thanks RJ!
