About the adventure
This is a dark, tense and atmospheric one-shot adventure designed around mystery and uneasiness as you seek refuge from inclement weather in a small seaside town. But everything is not what it seems at first glance, and there seems to be more to this small fishing hamlet than the market faire that the storm seems to be postponing. You'll be working through this tangled yarn, possibly experiencing some horror elements, and hopefully coming out the other side with your life, and sanity, intact!

Meet the Game Master
About me
My name is Askren, and I'm a Dungeon Master! From multi-year home gaming with friends, to livestreaming to thousands online, I've been across the country running games, speaking on panels, and hosting conversations with some of the biggest names in the industry to share DM advice and love for games, I've seen a lot of dice in my day. And so, I'm offering all of that experience to you to enjoy! As a game master, I love theatrics, well-paced sessions the keep players on their toes, and vivid artistic descriptions to spark the imagination. I am most at home running gritty, low-fantasy and horror campaigns, but am also a huge fan of vivid collaborative storytelling and silly, simple humor.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Players will be asked to submit a simple level 5 character sheet pre-made, or can have a pre-gen offered. All official material will be fine, and players will be offered story bits and hooks at the table. As this is a one-shot, character creation will not happen at the table, but you are more than welcome to reach out for assistance beforehand. I will require a copy of every character before the game starts for my own reference.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will only need a microphone, though a webcam always helps things feel more fun and like a group. Other than those basics and access to Roll20, players will only need to bring their character sheet in some digital form.
What Askren brings to the table
As the game virtual, everything will be prepared for the game and ready to go at start time, for maximum visual clarity and ease of play. I'll provide character tokens in Roll20 with any art players choose, and a vast collection of maps, tools, and other cool tricks to enhance the experience.

How Askren creates a safe table
This is a straightforward D&D one-shot adventure. You should look forwards to meeting and interacting with NPCs, figuring out a mystery by piecing together clues, and fighting your way through some enemies who seek to stop you! There will not be any complex puzzle-solving or riddles, and this is an adventure anyone from the most green beginner to the most seasoned veteran can enjoy! Especially if you have never had the chance to play in a more dark, horror-themed game setting.
