About the adventure

Under raging storm clouds, a lone figure stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft. The vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stares down a sheer cliff at the village below. A cold, bitter wind spins dead leaves about him, billowing his cape in the darkness. Lightning splits the clouds overhead, casting stark white light across him. Strahd turns to the sky, revealing the angular muscles of his face and hands. He has a look of power - and of madness. His once handsome face is contorted by a tragedy darker than the night itself. Rumbling thunder pounds the castle spires. The wind's howling increases as Strahd turns his gaze back to the village. Far below, yet not beyond his ken, a party of adventurers has just entered his domain. Strahd's face forms a twisted smile as his dark plan unfolds. He knew they were coming, and he knows why they have come - all according to his plan. He, the master of Ravenloft, will attend to them. Another lightning flash rips through the darkness, its thunder echoing through the castle's towers. But Strahd is gone. Only the howling of the wind - or perhaps a lone wolf - fills the midnight air. The master of Ravenloft is having guests for dinner. And you are invited. - (Introduction Curse of Strahd, Wizards of the Coast) Photos used with permission of Tim Shephard Art: Go visit his print store at: https://www.inprnt.com/profile/timshepherdart/?fbclid=IwAR08BMTZX5Jn66l_587fWDMa3UTlXe9xds4f85VzTPtAbFi5XDmp93r7rwg

About me

Ever wanted to play DnD with a hostage negotiator as your DM? If so, now is your chance! In my every day job, I work as a staff trainer in a medium security prison and I'm also a crisis/hostage negotiator for my institution. New Players welcome: Absolutely! About bit more about me: I'm 46, married, have 3 kids. I have been around DnD in one capacity or another for over 30 years. I grew up during the era of the 1980's Satanic Panic ( you don't know what that is, google it lol). So, my mom didn't let me play. but me and a friend would sneak the books around the school and roll dice under the desks, so no one could see! Made it harder to play, but also more fun. After that, I mostly read Novels. My favorite is the Dragonlance Series. I actually have the Paladin Sturm Brightblade tattooed on my back. Over the many years, I have played DnD off and on, but have played regularly, about once a week, for about five years. I have been the DM for the vast majority of that time. I also love painting miniatures, and making terrain for in person games. I have a couple of hundred minis that I have painted so far. That's about it, if you have any other questions, feel free to contact me! Can't wait to have you at the table!

What Jamie Moreland brings to the table

I have all the core, and most of the expanded, rulebooks digitally loaded on Fantasy Grounds. In other words I have everything you will need to play the game.

Safety

How Jamie Moreland creates a safe table

Curse of Strahd is a sandbox style campaign with multiple roads to the conclusion. In fact, the end goals are even left for the party to decide. Will you oppose Strahd or ally with him? Is he the bad guy everyone thinks he is, or is he just misunderstood? Completely up to you, and your companions, to decide. No railroading here. The setting of the campaign is teaming with adventure. There are multiple areas to explore. Old mansions, Castles, abandoned towns, and Temples. All are waiting for adventurers like yourself. However, some of these places hold powerful creatures, and death is always just a breath away (or a dice roll in our case). Combat, depending on the decisions you make, is infrequent. Other times, you are fighting for you life at every turn. Either way, combat is usually meaningful and dangerous. Don't pick fights lightly. If your more of the "Charismatic" type (I see you adding persuasion to your proficiency list), there are tons of interesting NPC's to befriend, interrogate, torture... it's up to you! Uncover lore that goes back hundreds of years, or discover the skeletons in your favorite NPC's closet (sometimes literally)! To sum it up, Curse of Strahd is a very well balanced campaign. It features combat, exploration, and roleplaying all in meaningful and fulfilling ways. No matter what your preference, you will find it here.
