About me
If I had to pick the one thing that I'm good at, that truly fits what I want to do in my life, it would be Game Mastering. As a young boy I wanted to "Make Video Games" even though I didn't know what that meant (really I wanted to be some sort of executive game designer). In highschool I decided that I wanted to write novels. Then in community college, some of my creative writing Classmates and I decided we wanted to give Dungeons and Dragons a try. None of us had ever played, though I had heard stories about some games from a friend of mine. I opted to be the DM and the role just stuck with me. I honestly prefer DMing to playing, I'm not one of those forever DMs who beg other players to take up the mantle. It lets me do all the fun work of game design, it allows me to create colorful fictional characters, and help a group tell an interesting collective story without having to put in the hard work of putting down hundreds of pages of typed work. Most of my experience IS in Dungeons and Dragons (hence me using DM as opposed to GM out of force of habit). I have a background in Data Analytics, so if you're into economic simulations or tracking ammo, then you'll have DM support behind you. But if you're not into that stuff, then you wouldn't be my first (nor last) group of players who held that preference. I have dabbled a few times in making my own TTRPG systems and I commonly incorporate homebrewed adventures, monsters, and items into my games. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask me. I want to make sure that both you and I are in the right kind of group/game.
GM Style
-Big on creating believable setting, villains, and major NPCs. -Tend to lean towards out-of-character narration/descriptions; but my habits generally reflect the habits of the players at my table. (This means that if my players are remaining in character and supporting verisimilitude, then I will.) -I tend to be slightly heavy on combat, with at minimum 30% of a campaign typically being combat (though again this depends more on the players. If y'all are having conversations when you go to camp for a long rest or as you walk down the city streets, I won't stop you. Likewise, if you avoid combat intentionally, that's fantastic). Like most DMs, my style changes to fit the group. Typically, I struggle with creating INTERESTING and IMPACTFUL politics. So politics games should probably stay off the table. That said, I pepper some politics through my settings if players want to opt in to them. Also I tend to be a bit goofy from time to time.
