About Roberto

Heyo, long-time DM here, I've played d&d since I was a kid, and I've been DMing since 2020. I mainly run official Foundry VTT campaign modules with added content depending on player story choices. I've run campaigns as classic as Phandalin that have gotten so far off the rails they turn into war campaigns across the sword coast. I've also run campaigns such as Tomb of Annihilation which have had tighter travel restrictions and a ticking clock against annihilation. I'm currently running The Crooked Moon which is a folklore horror in a young isolated realm of death, however, I've had players learn pushing the limits of isolation can bring forth new foreign horrors. In summary I love story-writing and connecting lore if your at my table you can expect your character story to be a pivotal part of the campaign story - fate and legendary heros and all that fun stuff.

My favorite shows/movies are

My favorite shows/movies are fantasy of any kind from low fantasy dramas like "Game of Thrones" to niche dark fantasy animes like "The Promised Neverland" and high fantasy like "Fairy Tail" or "Carnival Row". I love to compare and contrast any and all fantasy and their relative systems.

People are always surprised when I tell them

I link every universe and campaign together. The wizards of the coast have already done a lot of ground work to make this possible with the new explanations on the planes from 2024 DM Guide almost every material plane (earth like realm) can be portrayed with the same hell, heaven, abyss, etc.

When I'm not running games I'm...

When I'm not running games I'm a fullstack engineering student working on their degree. With the little downtime I have I love to play and design videogames to unwind.

How Roberto runs games

Players: 3–6 (7–8 possible) Campaigns: Long-form, Short campaigns, & One-shots Experience: New players welcome Genres: High Fantasy, Dark Fantasy, Horror, & Folklore Style: Story-driven, Character-focused, & Modular Sandbox Combat: Scalable & Adjustable Lethality Roleplay: Moderate Homebrew: Light–Moderate Romance: Light only PvP: Consent-based sparring I run official D&D campaign modules through Foundry VTT, but treat them as a foundation, not a railroad. Your character's backstory, choices, and relationships can heavily reshape the campaign.

Roberto's ideal table

I love taking familiar adventures and letting them evolve. Phandalin can become a war across the Sword Coast; Tomb of Annihilation can become a desperate race against time; The Crooked Moon can turn folklore horror into something far stranger when players push beyond its isolation. Your backstory is campaign material. I love connecting character lore, NPCs, past campaigns, and world history into one evolving universe where your choices actually matter. Because of this my tables require a fair amount of roleplay in order to progress. Player agency is highly encouraged. Sandbox detours are welcome with reasonable prep time—usually 1–2 sessions' notice for larger locations. I also run downtime and bastion activities which allow me to reward roleplay between major quests. Combat difficulty and lethality are adjustable by campaign and encounter. Most encounters can be avoided, escaped, negotiated, or outsmarted even after combat has began. I typically wont TPK an entire party unless they explicitly want TPKs at session 0 I opt for alternative forms of party defeat such as prison, robbery, devil deals, etc. I allow creative character builds and homebrew when they don't break balance or invalidate another player's specialization. I also like rewarding flavorful builds, over mechanically optimal ones. I will not punish meta builds but I discourage them unless it fits your character's style.
