About Charlie "yallopenos" Yallop
Hello there!! I'm Charlie, Level 30 Human with many a multi-class! I have guided a myriad of wayward warriors and misguided magical missiles onto the right (and oftentimes righteous) path in search of Gold and Glory. I do my best to balance the tones of the games I run. I want players to cry, suffer and struggle through combats but also chuckle with NPCs and each other. Breaking the tensions with a PP pun will never get old. (No matter what THEY may tell you) I have built a couple of fully fledged worlds that I am now fleshing out into maps, lore pdfs and several small novels. These are interspersed with tales of my iRL games and I am slowly growing my library of online content to allow me to entice players of all ranks! And that is where you come in! I look forward to weaving your own character into the fabric of my world. I encourage extensive backstories but come with an open mind! I'm not gonna let you be a King's secret bastard son who has loads of land and gold and cool fancy, shmancy swords off the bat, but we can figure out a way to get you there for sure ;D

I became a GM because
My life fell apart. Not in the silly way us millennials say when not getting enough attention, money or McFlurries. Full Nuclear Meltdown. In my darkest moments I created my own world to escape into, poring over the Core books for 3 months, I created Nidagai. To share with my friends and now you! =]
People are always surprised when I tell them
I have 3 children of varying pleasant-ness. The teenager has "matured" early, gaining proficiency in Sass. The middle child is adept in Acrobatics but also falls over air. The baby gains Advantage on Deception from her Cute feat. My Wife, Artist of the House. Great talent & misplaced self-doubt <3
When I'm not running games I'm...
off doing side quests in the Eventsworld. I travel far afield trying to make work feel like play and recruiting new players to the cause. I adore live music, whether at festivals, local bars or stadiums. I'm an avid cyclist and saxophone player. One of which is key in keeping me eating my fave foods
How Charlie "yallopenos" Yallop runs games
Roleplay? You betcha! Whacky voices? Too many to count! High-stakes combat? Of course! In fact, you die first! [Insert Maniacal Cackle Here] I love bringing my catalogue of characters to the table (or screen) and immersing players into a world that is ever growing. Promoting collaborative story telling & intertwining backstories my players get to enjoy worlds through the lens of character and player. I long for the moments I can sit back and let the players theorise, chat, plot, plan and scheme. Only to roll incredibly badly, rendering any prior "Ocean's 11-ing" entirely pointless, but still worth while. A stickler for certain rules but Rule of Cool must prevail! Altering a monsters hit points slightly, moving a DC down a notch for a cool idea or dishing out advantage (bc the players wanna do something crazy and I kinda wanna see it) is all part and parcel of players enjoying the game. If you're investing an evening with me, I want you to tell epic tales with a spring in your step and a smile on your face. But also feel really bad that the merchant went bankrupt due to your unique style of "bartering" I keep combat flowing, offering reminders of turn order and battlefield context. If you're not a big roleplayer/ shy, feel free to describe what happens instead! Whatever your play style, I want you to be comfortable and confident above all else that you will have a fair shout in my community. I set ground rules and trigger points pre-session to establish boundaries early.<3
Charlie "yallopenos" Yallop's ideal table
My table is for everyone. (Yes, even them) Any creed, race, religion or other spectrum of customisable slider option. If new to the game I will explain things as we go, no one gets left behind! If you're a shy bod then I'll open the discussion so you all have space to share. Bad choices or plans sometimes make for the best moments in-game so don't hesitate to participate. I like my players to experience the full range of human emotions, sometimes all at once, sometimes on a much steadier gradient. But ALWAYS having a good time.

I love it when a player
Takes the reins and leads the story or moment confidently. Seeing a player embody their character is really enriching, like a Proud Father watching their little chick take to the wing for the first time in Spring.
