About Aldo (Voz)

I am a simple and rather excitable GM with five years of hands-on, full-time adventure-craft experience in DnD 5e. If you like colorful maps, serious campaigns, tons of lore, and enjoy role-play over combat, this is the GM you are looking for!

working on how to make my own TTRPG system, making new storylines, writing new characters, or thinking about new interesting enemies.

How Aldo (Voz) runs games

My play style is what I would call imaginative, resourceful, spontaneous, and quite role-play heavy. I love doing voices and creating an atmosphere for my players to jump into. Most of our game hours will be spent either talking, reasoning, traveling, or simply having fun. In contrast, combat can be... difficult to describe. Some parties prefer to create powerful protagonists who do not want to be challenged and only wish to see the story progress further. Other parties do what they can with what they are given, and, should they fail, we always find a workaround to a gloomy situation. Seldom do I find players who want to go on an all out war against the antagonists, but when I do, I tune up the combat difficulty to 11, to great efficacy. It all depends on how blood thirsty the party is, and how difficult they want the game to be. For all intents and purposes, I like to ask my players, on a scale from 1 to 10, how difficult they want the game to be. We average the input out, and then the difficulty is set. All in all, my games want you to feel powerful. They want you to succeed. They will not be easy on you, and they won't let you down.

I deal with rules issues by...

talking it out and reaching a consensus.

I once ran a session...

for over six hours. Fun can get the best of you sometimes.

Rules are...

of utmost importance. I always do my best to clarify a dubious rule, or a dangerous precedent. But the rules are always overriden by democracy. If we believe something to be unfair, we will rule it as such.

Aldo (Voz)'s ideal table

My ideal table is full of a wide variety of characters who know what they want and will do everything they can to achieve it. We are looking for either a fun-driven party who likes shenanigans and having fun together, a war-driven party who will stop at nothing against the myriads of foes that I will throw at them, or a serious and analytical party who strategizes, plots, and fake outs the NPCs in a Game of Thrones fashion.

I think metagaming...

Is fine in some circumstances. It mostly depends on how driven the players are to play into their characters. I believe everyone metagames in a videogame when the stakes are at their highest (looking at you BG3 honor mode).

I think min/maxing...

Is fine. Extremely powerful enemies exist in my world, as do the less but more generally inclined characters. At the end of the day, consequences always come... no matter how Godly one thinks they might be.

My table is not the place for...

powerplaying (taking control of characters other than your own), sexually explicit content, excessive drama (particularly out of the game; we are here to have fun, not seek vendettas against anyone), troublemakers, murder-hobos. The no.1 rule is do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
