I became a GM because

I wanted to share my characters and worlds with people, and to see how they would blend with other people's interaction and creativity.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Kind, creative, and intelligent

How Violet runs games

I'm a deep lover of roleplaying, immersing into a world and really diving into a character's headspace. I love deep stories and when characters grow and develop with their experiences. I've homebrewed a lot of worlds, and my current one that I'll be running in I am very proud of, I think it is the best I've done by far. I've made a couple tabletop systems before and I've been playing long enough to understand the crunch of combat, and I love making combat situations that are emotionally heavy and feel consequential. I do my best to do distinct voices and I love talking in character and really trying to get into a character's personality.

I prep by

Planning concepts, situations, and characters as starting points, and then adapting to how players interact with them.

My favorite trope is...

A kind, hardworking girl who's in over her head but trying her best anyway.

My games focus on...

Emotional storytelling, character building, verisimilitude, and escapism.

Violet's ideal table

As a GM, I'm very focused on trying to let people immerse themselves and sink into their character and the situations they're in. I narrate relatively minimally, and I very heavily lean on in-character dialogue as my primary conveyance of interaction with the world. My NPCs are much more developed and "3 dimensional" than many in many GM styles, but I do absolutely make sure that the players are the primary ones driving the plot, the pace of the game, and their own interests. If a player is the kind to enjoy getting to know NPCs and to experience the world through dialogue and discussion of concepts, then I am absolutely a great fit for them. I am pretty generous about interpreting intention rather than harping on specifics during play - particularly conversations. I do not punish people for mis-speaking. Additionally, a massive majority of the characters in my world are kind and understanding people, so hopefully that will minimize the fear of saying something wrong and upsetting someone.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

Emotional storytelling and character growth through building relationships

I love it when a player

Freely interacts with the world as their character, and shows initiative and interests in the smaller details of the world.

My table is not the place for...

People who are disinterested in immersing themselves in their character, or who think emotional moments and building relationships within a story are wastes of time.
