About Koal B.

Hi there! I'm a hobbyist writer that's aiming to become a professional author, and in the meantime, I'm an avid roleplayer that's actively obsessed with the building of entire worlds. I have little experience with running typical systems, though not none—Instead, I'm more familiar with a "freeform" style of roleplaying, often done through text-based channels or vocalized in online-calls. It is a fair bit distinct from TTRPGs, lacking any hardline mechanics, though it relies on the same conventions. In my games, I'll take on the role of a Game Master, spinning the world around the players as they actively make their own decisions for their own character(s).

This person has such a well defined and crafted world that allows for a plethora of play styles and settings that you, the player, will find yourself engaged in. You will find yourself deeply immersed in the world, lore, factions, or even individual characters. 10/10 GM, would recommend for anyone.

Quite honestly the best GM I've ever had, currently in a campaign that has lasted for over 25 sessions, and I don't think I'll ever be satisfied playing with anybody else ever since that campaign. That campaign changed my whole perspective on TTRPGs forever, nothing will ever come close to it, and the level of absolute creativity possible, and the immense fun that comes from playing it. I genuinely think that nobody else can ever recreate such an experience for me, for the first time I actually felt immersed, and I was able to learn more about the world in a more natural way that made me want to know even more. When he's at his best, he IS the best. If I could play with only one GM for the rest of eternity, I already know who my choice will be.

Playing with this GM has brought me some of the most entertaining moments in my TTRPG journey. The combination of great world building, on top of having incredible player freedom has made for a very unique playing experience. The world that he has created is also fascinating on its own, with a magic or ‘magick’ system that leads to a cool spellcrafting experience. All in all, playing Gaia with Koal B. has been great.

This is my go too DM for power scaling fantasy. He will make you understand your position in the world, you decide how to climb and when to rest. Allow yourself to fall head first into his unique world building. Fight for any side you wish, and go in as blind as possible.

How Koal B. runs games

I'm heavy on roleplay, to the point that it's the primary driving focus of my games — However, when combat occurs, it is gritty, intense and quite bloody. I'm not one to pull punches, and despite being a very 'yes, and' sort-of GM, you'll find that there's always a consequence to any action that you've taken. Regardless of the style of game that we end up with, the settings that I employ are of my own creation; This makes it so that I have an intricate knowledge on the inner workings of my own world, to an extent that isn't possible with a preestablished setting, wherein you'll be capable of truly experiencing a new world with a fresh perspective — learning the practices of magick and the histories of aeons since abandoned.
