About VictorSeven/ Miles Tigard

Twice-published fantasy author, AVN dev, and Twitch streamer with a love for tabletop systems and collaborative storytelling. 25 years of writing experience. Featured in this episode of All Things D&D: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naGkvPH1ino My main goal in TTRPGs is to make you FEEL something. I want to string your heartstrings across the harp of my storytelling and carefully pluck and strum to create an emotional experience you'll remember for years. I started DMing D&D 5th Edition because I thought it would help me flex my writing skills, and boy was I right. Players always keep me on my toes and thwart my plans, and I love to roll with the punches and encourage creativity! I'm a very Rule of Cool DM, and though I do tend to stick pretty close to the rules as written for consistency, sometimes the curiosity gets the better of me when a player has an amazingly creative or hilarious idea. I love intelligent villains, compelling monologues, and inspiring dread in my players. I've been told my writing, especially the things I write into campaigns that utilize character backstories, is extremely emotional and compelling. I prefer to run Daggerheart and BREAK!! RPG, and am currently developing a supplement for my book series, The Riftkey Chronicles, so that people can play in the world of my books eventually.

I became a GM because

I was looking for a way to elevate my writing. I've published 2 novels and am writing for a fairly successful adult visual novel, and I felt the next step was to see how I could do with other brains involved, tying character stories into an overarching narrative and responding to player decisions.

My favorite books are

The Wheel of Time series got me started in writing. I started the series at age 14. The Symphony of Ages elevated my character banter and depth. And Clair Obscur, while not a book, is polishing my worldbuilding and character crafting. What a piece of art.

When I'm not running games I'm...

writing. Almost always writing. Either I'm working on my books, my AVN, fleshing out a new TTRPG world idea I had, learning a new system (looking at you, Daggerheart), writing and recording music... I love creating things for other people to enjoy.

How VictorSeven/ Miles Tigard runs games

Rules as Written, but Rule of Cool trumps all. High roleplay, high intrigue and mystery. Hyper emotional writing with massive integration of character backstory. High RP, low exploration, mid to high combat. Low use of traps, and low to medium use of puzzles. Love crafting organizations to take down, like Assassin's Creed Odyssey's Cult of Kosmos, where you reveal the identities of the members one by one. I also love writing deep, engaging NPCs and building full relationship systems for you to be rewarded for interacting with your favorite characters.

I once ran a session...

in which I had the players unwittingly create their own BBEG. I am devious, underhanded, and sadistic in the GM seat. But I'm also fair, and I am ultimately playing to lose, because the greatest payoff is watching the players' joy when they finally take down that huge obstacle. We make memories.

My games focus on...

emotion. I want to play your heartstrings and take you on a roller coaster full of tension-inducing downs and wholesome, heartfelt ups. I want to make characters you fall in love with, deliver you horror, tragedy, and triumph in equal measure, and give you an experience you think about all week.

When it comes to voices

I can't help myself. I have to voice act. I have to become the character you're talking to. Whether it's pathos or levity, I want to generate a feeling when you're interacting with someone.

VictorSeven/ Miles Tigard's ideal table

I desire players who are open-minded, eager to learn, respectful of each other speaking (not cutting in and interrupting), and who take the time to understand their abilities and the world they're playing in. I don't mind minmaxxers, but I think failure is a wonderful excuse to tell a story. I don't want people who are looking to "win" the game. I want people who want to immerse themselves in a story.
