About Tone
Hi, I'm Tone! I've been rolling dice as a DM and player for a few years, and decided to be proactive to DM online! Now I've gotten a steady string of Play-by-Post Games, though I'm always trying to pivot into Live games. I'm all about the story, the party vibe, and the pace. I feel like if you're paying, you don't want to sit around asking a hundred questions about the library you're in, you want to move forward. I'm keen for community- so the types of games I offer really depend on what players I pick up! Message me with schedule options-- I have a bunch of campaigns in many different level ranges that I am just burning to run, even if I just have ads for one or two. I'm very 'inclusive' and 21st century even though I'm enamored with the DnD past.

My favorite books are
Sirens of Titan by Vonnegut for finding the fun and humanity in face of the worst we can be; but also Conan and the pulpy mysteries/horrors that laugh at my humanism. House of Leaves because I love words and punk and academia and to prove I read long books.
How Tone runs games
I like to set my players up with the scenario, and let them roleplay into what they want to do with fewer rails than most books give. I like to reward the quirks of a character that isn't min-maxed, but keep the rolls coming for those that went that route. I like non 5e games, and have learned a lot of RPG tools of the trade (suspense, mystery, more dynamic/creative combat) *not* from 5e, but 5e rules are the ones I know best, so I try to balance combat and other goals of exploration, role expansion, and creative play. Def story-telling > having a map for every situation, though my on-the-fly VTT skills are improving. Not here for the high-maintenance players, but for the party coming together and everyone making each other feel cool.
