About Misha

Hark! Who goes there, stalking between the hunches of the dunes, slithering up the beige mountain rock, patiently still in a shadow given same by the ancient forest and a brick arch? Who is leading a cavalcade of armored lancers up the road, who gazes into the vast from the bridge of a Heavenly Ship, who schemes from the comfort of the first-class steam-train suite? Who holds the secrets of arcane, might of industry, power of ideology? Very well they may be you. But remember - never you alone. In order of introduction: a fellow with a passion for history and fantasy, playing tabletop RPGs since 2017, with DMing experience of 6 years. While dalliances with systems from Pathfinder 2e, VtM, and Dark Heresy 2e to BlackSwordHack, Paranoia, and Blades in the Dark undeniably took place, my favourite system to run remains 2014 DnD 5e (even though rarely without homebrew).

I got started GMing...

by running a self-made, poorly constructed Warhammer 40k spacehulk clearing session with one 6-sided die for outcomes. People in the winter LARP camp were forced in due to the bad weather, and I just happened to finish one of the shorter stories about Commissar Cain...

How Misha runs games

My games are usually inspired by history and a magical realist perspective. Knights use guns, airships compete with railways, and on a larger scale, wizards are as dangerous as messengers and clairvoyers as spell-slingers. Both the darkest evil and the highest good are found in the human heart. Wimsy strives to survive in the world of an ever-growing industry and profit, hiding and cloaking itself in the far reaches of the land and deep fissures of the mind. Yet it is always here. One must only reach a hand, and take care not to burn it in the firestorm of marching modernity. Talking gameplay style: I run hard-hitting, fast and dangerous combat, immersive and realistic exploration, and earnest social roleplay. Magic has rules beyond spell description, NPCs have reasons to act and do what they do. Player characters are a band of extraordinary individuals, and the actions they undertake or refuse to undertake are taken into account first and foremost. Players are ones who walk the path in the game, and they are perfectly justified in choosing the road they walk - or choosing to walk off the path entirely. If they do that together, that is. Nota Bene! - Games would be rarely run without homebrew and never without at least some safety tools. A list and description of both would be presented in full in the adventure listing (if possible), so you would know exactly what you will be getting into.

Misha's ideal table

I am for a vibe that's...

all about Andor, all about Red Orchestra, all about standing up instead of standing by. With a healthy dose of lightning laser arcane staffs of thunderous justice, of course.

I think it's a red flag when players...

express malicious idiocy, for lack of a better term. There are reasons for anger, apaulment, and confusion. What sparsely can be excused is a persisting attempt at "terraforming" the table by putting others down based on their inalienable characteristics. That's how people get removed from the table
