About Natalie Van Horn - Timeless Adventures
I love a good story. I love to take details from a PC's backstory and use them to craft events in the story. I encourage my players to get invested through the environment I create, materials for character creation, and prompts. My immersive environment uses music, roleplaying, props, and mechanics. Expect to be drawn into the world of the story! Image by John Morgan. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Between_Fog_and_Sun.jpg

I got started GMing...
I love wordbuilding. From the moment I started DMing, I either homebrewed worlds or heavily adapted pre-existing settings. Building a setting and its important characters is something I dive deep into before I even run a campaign. I build out key places and figures and go from there.
My favorite system of all Time is
Daggerheart or Legend in the Mist. I love the emphasis on storytelling from both of these systems.
When I'm not running games I'm...

How Natalie Van Horn - Timeless Adventures runs games
I love roleplaying. I will dig into your character's backstory and use it to develop events in the story. I get into the mindset of the villains and the NPCs, as I play them, acting out their dialogue. I am starting to use character voices as part of my game. I am very comfortable with improvising. I love pulling my characters into the moment with music and hints, and on occasion, props. If it makes sense for the story, I am willing to create custom items. If you enjoy an immersive game, I am your DM!

I prep by
For session prep: - Getting into the mindset of the NPCs, - Creating the scenario if the players don’t intervene - Reviewing PC stories and background to weave them into the ongoing story - Creating/prepping maps, monsters/adversaries, and props. -Plotting anything happening outside of the view
My favorite trope is...
moments of magic created by character development.
Rules are...
a means to support the story being told. If the rules get in the way of a cool moment in the story, I can waive or alter them as needed. I also homebrew mechanics specifically to support the story being told in the game.
Natalie Van Horn - Timeless Adventures's ideal table
My ideal table would consist of players who are willing to roleplay, engaged in the ongoing story, and contributing to the atmosphere of the story. All players should support everyone’s fun. I expect my players to be polite concerning others’ differences and boundaries. I run a clean language table, though fantasy exclamations are acceptable.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Roleplaying is a big thing I love to encourage. Acting in character is the gold standard, but I also enjoy it when my players think about what their character would do and describe it accordingly.
I love it when a player
leans into their character's flaws or insecurities. It makes for great story moments, which I can then weave into the ongoing narrative.
I think metagaming...
should be kept to a minimum. The emphasis should be on the story we are telling collectively.
