About The Uncomfortable Mug

Hey Hey! I'm Mug, or Jon, either one works for me! (Most just stick with Mug.) I've been playing TTRPGs for about 7 years and running for 5, well, at least consistently, I had played while I was a kid and in high school, but D&D5e never kept my attention. Most of the past 7 years were spent playing Mutants & Masterminds 3e, a superhero game. As well as a bit of Pathfinder 2e. I tend to favor making my own worlds within systems; world-building is something I love to do. I like to have free rein with what I can do when making a campaign within the worlds. Often adding homebrew, such as with mechanics or classes. This way, I can give veteran players a chance to try out something new. But that isn't to say I am not newcomer-friendly. I love to introduce people to new games they haven't tried before. I have experience doing so, especially with Mutants and Masterminds. The system is very open-ended and can take a bit to get a grasp on, but it is still a very fun system. I have had my eye on many different systems to get into, but most of my original game group had no interest in trying. Including: World of Darkness, Shadowrun, Call of Cthulu, & Lancer. And I am always looking for new systems as well, if a group really wants to play a certain system. Given I get time to prepare.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

The three systems I'd bring with me? They would probably be: Mutants and Masterminds Pathfinder Call of Cthulhu Two games I am familiar with that cover some different bases and a game that I've been meaning to get into more that can cover another sotra genre of games.

How The Uncomfortable Mug runs games

In the past, I have relied on heavy combat, but recently I have been working on my GM style to incorporate more role-playing and be more lenient with combat, within reason. Obviously, if I am running a dungeon crawler game, you should expect a high-combat game. I create an intricate story with in-depth NPCs, villains, and plot points for the players to discover. Including intertwining my players' characters' backstories into the games I run.
