About Hugo
I’ve been playing and running tabletop roleplaying games since 2016, when I first discovered Dungeons & Dragons and immediately fell in love with the idea of collaborative storytelling. When no one in my friend group knew how to play, I stepped behind the screen, dove into the rules, and started running games. I’ve been DMing ever since. Later I've joined some other games, but I found I prefer to DM rather than be a player My experience as a Game Master is rooted in in-person play, where I learned the importance of pacing, preparation, and creating a welcoming table. I’m especially drawn to story-first gameplay with tactical depth, and I enjoy designing sessions where every player has opportunities to shine based on their character’s strengths.

I got started GMing...
I started GMing in 2016 after discovering Dungeons & Dragons and realizing no one in my friend group knew how to play. I dove into the rules, learned the game inside and out, and ran my first campaig from the D&D Starter Set The Lost Mine of Phandelver. I’ve been behind the screen ever since.
People are always surprised when I tell them
All the physical things I've accumulated for D&D. They're even more surprised when I show them. I've got almost a thousand miniatures. Some 3D printed, some purchased, most painted. I got a bunch of maps, boxes full of terrain. and I keep adding to it each time I get a new campaign or One-shot idea.
How Hugo runs games
I'm a big fan of high stakes combat and storytelling. My players can expect plot twists, interesting NPCs, and moral dilemmas. Uniquely I love running a physical tabletop full of minis, terrain, and adventure.

I once ran a session...
Where the players took all session trying to get down a single hallway. It was the Tomb of Annihilation. It was hilarious. Everyone had a great time. TPK. 10/10 would run again if asked.
Rules are...
This is a collaborative game. Work together toward a shared goal. Don’t split the party. No PvP. Roleplay as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. Be respectful and help create a fun table for everyone.
Hugo's ideal table
My table is welcoming, collaborative, and focused on shared storytelling. Games are run at a real physical table with miniatures and terrain, streamed live so players can experience the warmth and immersion of an in-person game without the complexity of a traditional virtual tabletop. The players who tend to fit best at my table are story lovers, creative problem-solvers, and easygoing players who enjoy working as a team. Whether you’re a returning player or newer to D&D, you’ll do well here if you value collaboration, respect, and helping everyone have a good time. The general vibe is cozy but cinematic. Relaxed and comfortable, but with moments of tension, heroism, and spectacle. I aim for story-first gameplay with tactical depth, strong pacing, and plenty of opportunities for each character to shine. Roleplay is encouraged but never required; you’re welcome to engage at whatever level feels comfortable to you. Overall, this is a table for players looking for a consistent, reliable game that feels like a classic home table with professional polish. If you enjoy collaborative play, immersive storytelling, and a respectful, friendly atmosphere, you’ll likely feel right at home.

I am for a vibe that's...
I am for a vibe that’s relaxed and welcoming, like a classic home game, but elevated with strong pacing, immersive storytelling, and cinematic moments where characters get to shine.
If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
If you're into playing D&D in person, but for whatever reason you are currently unable to, you're going to love my table. I go the extra mile to put out minis, organize terrain, and visualize the story for my players so they feel like they are sitting next to me snaking, drinking, and cracking jokes
I love it when a player
I love it when a player describes in vivid detail what their characters do. (I love the phrase "How do you want to do this?") I love it when they surprise me with creative or clever solutions to the game's challenges. I love it when they know their character well and are engaged with the story.
