The coolest thing for me was seeing all the NPCs from our backstories showing up in the campaign. We all had one-on-one moments with them, which worked well in developing our own arcs. That may sound boring to some (“don’t split the party”), but the truth was that those interactions were quick, that we all knew we’d have our own moment to “shine,” and that we were all hooked on each of our characters’ stories. Bruno’s got a one-of-a-kind style and a delightful take on DnD.
Playing D&D with Bruno is like watching a thriller movie. I’m always on the edge of my seat. Our bard and rogue infiltrated an orc camp to discover their war plans. But it turned out that there were endless things to explore there – much of it about the orc chiefs. And y’all know the unquenchable audacity of bards and rogues, right? So they kept fiddling with everything they could within the camp, escaping by the skin of their teeth every time, while I tried not to have a heart attack watching it all.
You’ve probably already spent three sessions in a row exploring a new city. But have you ever done that in a context where all locations and NPCs were connected to multiple campaign plots? Well, I can think of at least three different opportunities that happened in our campaign. Forget worldbuilding. What Bruno does is splashing the story all over the setting and NPCs. Every encounter reveals something that, later, we realize is somehow connected to the plot. It’s in a completely different league from a regular DnD game.
Get ready for the highest number of WTF moments you’ll ever face in a DnD campaign. I was ever curious and looking forward to what would happen next. And all the time, things would take a surprising turn, and when all was said and done, I’d finally see all the clues I’d missed pointing in that exact direction. On top of that, it came to a point where all plots collided. It was simply an insane experience. Best campaign of my life.
