About jak

jak of all trades, master of cats, cooking, and sarcasm My availability is rather open: Running a PF2e on Tuesdays Looking to run my primariarly Pathfinder, but also: FATE, Call of Cthulhu, Arena, and Starfinder games that are ready to go. My game listed for Sunday is not filled, I am looking for players for any day of the week other than Tuesday at this point. Feel free to sign up for Sunday or DM me with your preferred day so I know what to submit to SPG. I am also available to run other systems. About the GM I have been game master for almost 20 years. My style of games have ranged from shenanigans to dungeon crawler, from castle maker and city manager to active role play. My longest campaign lasted for over two years. I have made so many great friends going to comic stores, running at conventions, and meeting interesting people like you. I don't want to play with a bunch of anonymous people. Let's be on a first name basis.

I got started GMing...

Because no one else wanted to run the game. LOL. But on a serious note, I was told you should play dungeons and dragons. Growing up I heard this repeatedly. So I went to the local game store and bought a rented a copy for the SNES. I was very confused. I had been making my own version for years.

My favorite books are

I have read Name of the Wind and Wise Man's Fear over 5 times now. Probably my favorite book. But then there's Sanderson, and oh jeez does that guy write like a machine. I have always wanted to play a Stormlight or Mistborne style game. Just about everything Sanderson writes I enjoy.

When I'm not running games I'm...

I love to travel. It's great inspiration. I like to play the normal video games. My partner wants me to play Fortnite with her. I love war hammer 40k and its gotcha game Tacticus. I paint, both figurines and on canvas. I have been an avid reader. I love to cook. I always bring snacks to games

How jak runs games

I love to act out with other players. I use accents to get into character and help me figure out what are the character's motivations. When other players do this it promotes more amazing gameplay. With the right encouragement I think anyone can learn to do this.

My favorite trope is...

It's never a Wendigo, except for when it is. It's always a Mimic. Always. Enemy to friends is a great style of gaming. Friends to enemy's has to be done delicately. Nothing motivates the party like betrayal. The party choses who the BBEG will be.

Rules are...

Rule of Cool is in. Due to Homebrew, rules tend to be more like guidelines. I have been running games for 2 decades so I have a god idea of several different rules in my head from all the editions so I might resort back to 3.5 era on accident! I don't like rules getting in the way of us having fun.

When it comes to voices

I have an assortment of accents and voices. I have learned to talk and type at the same time so that my information can be tracked more easily. I strongly encourage my players to get into a fun character that they enjoy and to party along side me as we role play what our characters are saying.

jak's ideal table

I love to run Sand Box style games. I don't do on the rail games. Some players don't realize how much they expect the GM to keep prodding the party along. I want the players to feel like they are in my world and if they want to stop and dig out a mine for ore and build a castle instead of dealing with the "main quest" awesome, let's do that instead.
