About Mark Rosania (DM The Mark Knight)
I have been a DM/GM for 30 years. I started playing with West End Games Star Wars RPG when I was 14 and never looked back. Since then I have run long running, multi-year campaigns in several systems including: D6 Star Wars, 7th Sea 1st ed., and D&D 3.5e, 4e, 5e, and 5.5e. I would consider myself an improvisational DM. I operate from a standpoint that the fun is had at the table so I focus my efforts on maximizing the story that is dictated by the player's decision making. I utilize my knowledge of the setting, npc motivations, character backgrounds, and plot lines to determine how the world responds to the decisions the characters are making. My favorite moments as a DM/GM are those moments when a player has a real emotional response to something that happens in the stories we tell together.

How Mark Rosania (DM The Mark Knight) runs games
My games are driven by roleplay and story with a good sprinkling of combat and dungeons mixed in. The combats and dungeons always derive directly from story elements and serve to move the plot forward in some way. All of my games over the last few years have taken place in my homebrew setting of Oredin which I would be happy to share more about. I love to improv and watch the story evolve based on the choices the characters make. I love having players who are invested in the world and in their characters.

I once ran a session...
Where the players created their own villains without knowing it. It was a one shot on an off week. I had them create level 12 evil characters. I later sent these evil characters to hunt their party. They even encountered one another with the players playing both sides of the battle. It was awesome.

My games focus on the characters. Their backstories, their choices, their interactions with each other and the world.
Rules are...
Rules are to be interpreted by the game master in order to ensure fairness of play, challenging encounters, and dramatic story telling. They are not to be manipulated in an attempt to break the game by anyone at the table. They should be a part of what makes the game fun to play.
Mark Rosania (DM The Mark Knight)'s ideal table
My table is fun, imaginative, respectful, challenging, empowering, emotional, and entertaining. The types of players who fit my table are players who are eager to engage with the setting and with one another. They are the type of player who say "yes and" to one another's roleplay and help each other tell their character's story. I appreciate players who take notes and understand how their character works.
