About Fatebinder
Hi everyone! I figured I'd tell you a bit about how I found myself falling in love with Dungeons and Dragons and DMing as a whole. I grew up playing videogames and reading fantasy series that helped me develop a passion for the hero’s journey: stories full of hope and despair, tragedy and triumph. This love moved me to explore beyond books and gaming to explore other mediums: comics, anime, and eventually, TTRPG actual plays like Fantasy High and Unsleeping City. The first time that I saw people playing Dungeons and Dragons, something clicked instantly. In 2019, I finally found a group to play with, which was the most fun I had ever had in a fantasy setting. I’ve been running games since 2020: all modified versions of existing D&D 5e modules that include homebrew enhancements to make the story more compelling. If you were to ask me about what would be in store for you in one of my games? I would say I want your characters to feel powerful, heroic and triumphant. However, the world is often perilous, challenging and sometimes dreadful, requiring brave heroes like yourself! If you are interested in being a force for good and rising to meet great evil, then I invite you to join us in the Realms of Fate!

When I'm not running games I'm...
Gaming! I enjoy all sorts of games, but I mainly play RPGs (BG3, Fallout, TESV), Colony Sims (Rimworld, my beloved), and Strategy Games (CK3, Stellaris, Civ 6). It has always been a great way to unwind and keep myself sharp. I'd love to chat about our favorite games sometime! :)
How Fatebinder runs games
I've always advertised myself as running games that are 50% Combat - 50% Roleplay. Exploration tends to take a backseat but depending on the campaign or where we are in the story, it may come to the forefront. I enjoy tense, gritty combat where resource management, teamwork and planning is needed to win the day. By that same token, I want my players to feel heroic and powerful, so I will often grant them extra magic items, Feats or homebrew features. Out of combat, I use maps, animated assets and music/sound effects to set the scene. When roleplaying, I give all of my NPCs realistic motivations and they will react and behave according to who they are and what is happening around them. I try to help my players connect with the NPCs and the Game World by giving them pre-existing connections, faction affiliations or plot hooks. It's very important to me that they have a reason to care. I try to keep my players engaged at all times, whether the PCs are in combat, roleplaying or merely exploring the setting. I think the key to maintaining player enthusiasm and engagement is keeping things immersive, consistent and fun.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
James Cameron. That's a director with a clear, focused creative vision that always follows through on his projects no matter how ambitious they are.
Rules are...
Important! I think structure is fundamental to building a cohesive long-term game experience. But! I also think rules -can- and -should- be flexible and open to discussion over the table as a group.
Fatebinder's ideal table
My ideal table is one where everyone feels like a collaborator, while also being willing to stay loosely within the bounds of the setting's lore and scope. I love to work in player ideas and character backgrounds into the main story so they can have a fully fleshed out character arc in the process. The same applies for combat and character builds: if you have an idea for a specific build, just ask me; we can work out a homebrew class, subclass or modify existing class features to help you bring your class/power fantasy to life. Collaboration is the name of the game!

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Homebrew! I love homebrew. The beauty of DnD is the ability to create anything and to be anything. If there is a build that could be remotely worked into the game, I will find a way to implement it for you. Can you be Iron Man? No. Can you be an Artificer in an arcane magi-tech suit? Hell yes.
I love it when a player
..wants to collaborate with their fellow party members. I think it's great when people play in a way that is true to their own character while also being mindful of their fellow adventurer's characters.
My table is not the place for...
Murderhobos, Chaos Goblins, Evil PCs or anyone who is afflicted with Main Character Syndrome. At my tables we tell collaborative, narrative-focused, Heroic stories.
