About Castor
Hi, I'm Chris, and I'm a nerd to the core. Born in '97, my formative years were spent mastering the classics. I grew up on the glowing screens of the Atari, NES, SNES, and Genesis, alongside the adventures of TMNT, the epic lore of Marvel Comics, and the strategy of trading card games. That early love for gaming—especially classic fantasy RPGs—is why I proudly call myself a retro gamer. Worlds like Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings paved the way for my biggest passion. I discovered Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition at age 18, and it consumed my soul in the best possible way. When I'm not pouring My heart and soul into the dark and vibrant homebrewed world of Creatheria, you can find me pursuing my other passions, such as gaming, crafts, and the outdoors. I have an equal passion for both LARP and adventure in the real world, as well as playing games when I'm not creating my own. It's that lifelong connection to fantasy and play that I bring to every single session I run.

I became a GM because
I became tired of predicting the end of stories in the first five minutes. I've always been a fan of fantasy and roll playing games, but the older I become the less and less I'm satisfied. I needed to create a world that harbored surprise at every turn and had depth every where I look.
How Castor runs games
I'm Caster, and D&D is my passion. With 10 years of DM experience, I excel at taking the core of D&D 5e and customizing it to deliver a unique, unforgettable experience every session. My enjoy hosting intense, highly immersive games in my entirely original world: Creatheria. It's a dark, gritty realm where the stakes are high, the rules are often unforgiving, and the horror is cosmic. Built by the mix of high stakes and cozy journeys I've provided and the crucial choices of the players who adventure here, Creatheria is bound to become a place you love! My true specialty lies in making that world yours as much as mine. When you book a private campaign, you aren't just joining a story—you're commissioning a canonical saga built around your group's unique desires. My process begins with a deep Session Zero consultation. We dive into your favorite themes, the specific moral ambiguities you want to explore, the specific genres you want to mix (e.g., Dark Fantasy meets Steampunk), and the character arcs you are most excited about. From there, I custom-write an adventure that weaves your characters' backstories, ambitions, and fears directly into the fabric of Creatheria's lore. This ensures every plot hook, every antagonist, and every crucial decision is personally relevant. You won't play a predictable adventure path; you will play the definitive chapter of your characters' legacy, making your actions a permanent and consequential part of the world's history. When you book with me expect: -Original Maps and meticulously detailed world lore -A commitment to vibrant voice acting and in-character interaction. (I try my best lol) -Thrilling combat and evocative descriptions that make your skin crawl. While I thrive in hosting dark, mature, and gritty games, I'm also happy to dial back the darkness for a more relaxed, innocent adventure. I've successfully hosted players from ages 8 to 80, proving my flexibility to ensure everyone finds a place at the table. I'm looking for adventurers eager to have their actions become a permanent, canonical part of my world's history. Game Rules and Group Expectations. These guidelines are designed to ensure a fun, respectful, and engaging experience for everyone. Please read them thoroughly before our Session Zero (our first organizational meeting). 1. Respect & Conduct (The Pillars of the Table) These rules cover how we interact as a group, both in-character and out-of-character. Mandatory Prerequisites: Reading and adhering to all rules, expectations, and prerequisites mentioned on the Table Top Tyr Startplaying game listing is mandatory before applying or attending any session. Be Collaborative: The essence of a role-playing game is a group cooperative experience. Your character must have a motivation to work with the party. Absolutely no petty sabotage, stealing from party members, or unagreed-upon "PvP" (Player vs. Player) actions. While character paths may cross and conflict can arise in the story (with DM and player approval), deliberate actions to undermine or harm fellow party members are not allowed. Respect the Vibe & Boundaries: The game setting deals with mature, 18+ themes, including extreme violence, strong language, and dark topics. While this is an adult game, we have absolute zero tolerance for the simulation or depiction of the following sensitive subjects: NO sexually explicit material (NSFW). NO elements of sexual assault. NO "on-camera" simulation of violence towards children. (Violence towards children may exist in the lore, setting, or character backgrounds, but will never be actively played out at the table.) Safety Tools: If anything in the game makes you uncomfortable or crosses a boundary, please message the DM privately immediately. We will do our best to discuss our boundaries and expectations prior to the game beginning. The Spotlight: Ensure everyone gets time to shine. Don't dominate every conversations or every round of combat. Encourage other players to participate. Communication: If you are going to be late or miss a session, please notify the DM at least 2 hours in advance on the dedicated Discord channel. Failure to communicate may result in your character being played by the DM or sitting out the session. 2. Character Creation We primarily use standard Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (D&D 5e 2014) rules. Ability Scores: Use the Standard Array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) or Point Buy (27 points). We do not roll for stats to maintain fairness and balance across the party. 3. Core Mechanics & Tools Rules vs. Rule of Cool: I (the DM) will adjudicate rules as written (RAW), but if a creative action would make the scene more fun, memorable, or epic, I will lean toward the Rule of Cool—provided it makes sense within the game world. The DM's ruling is final. Dice: We will use the Virtual Tabletop (VTT) built-in dice roller. All rolls must be made publicly for transparency, Including rolls made by the DM for all saves, attacks, and NPC actions. Know Your Stuff: You are responsible for knowing what your character can do (spells, class features, etc.). Keep your spell descriptions and rules notes accessible to keep your turn quick. 4. House Rules (Specific Adjustments) To manage pacing and raise the stakes, we use a few specific adjustments: A. Critical Death Saves If you roll a natural 1 on a Death Saving Throw, it counts as two failures instead of one. This raises the stakes when characters are near death. (A natural 20 still revives you with 1 HP). B. Critical Hit Damage When you score a Critical Hit, you maximize the first set of damage dice. You then roll the second set of damage dice normally and add the results together. (e.g., if you hit with a Greatsword (which deals 2d6 damage), the damage will be 12 + 1d6 + Modifier . This ensures crits always feel impactful. C. Variant Resting Rules (Gritty Realism) We will start the campaign using the "Gritty Realism" variant rules for resting, which focuses on longer narrative arcs between refreshing resources: Short Rest: Typically takes 1 day (8 hours of light activity/resting). Long Rest: Typically takes 1 week (7 days of light activity/resting). We will discuss this rule in Session Zero. If the group prefers the standard PHB rules (1 hour Short Rest, 8 hour Long Rest), we can use those instead. Thank you for reading these rules. By adhering to these guidelines and the expectations set on the Startplaying listing, you help ensure a collaborative, respectful, and memorable experience for the entire group!
Castor's ideal table
My ideal D&D table consists of 3-5 open-minded adults dedicated to creating an epic saga of heroism. I seek players who take the world and its narrative seriously, prioritizing deep, authentic roleplaying over goofy tall tales. I want a group unafraid to do the voices, get genuinely attached to their characters, and allow themselves to experience the full weight of the story—celebrating the triumphs and even crying over the losses. The goal is a challenging, high-stakes game—think Lord of the Rings fellowship and scope meets Dark Souls moral ambiguity and difficulty—where we all hone our battle strategy and watch our characters grow from humble adventurers into legendary heroes and, hopefully, best friends.
