Hi! I’m Sydney. I’m a roleplay heavy, combat light DM who has close to 10 years of DMing experience and 12 as a player. I primarily use Dungeons and Dragon 5e, but I have been a GM for Call of Cthulhu, Masks: the New Generation, and Legends of the 5 Rings. I hope to play with you soon!

How Sydney Berryman runs games

I am a combat light, roleplay heavy DM known to be adaptive and create immersive worlds and NPCs. I’m knowledgeable on the rule sets I use, and I am willing to admit when I have done a ruling wrong. I’m a strong advocate for telling a collaborative story rather than a me versus player mindset.

Sydney Berryman's ideal table

My table style is relaxed. I’m not a competitive person, so a lot of my tables don’t have a really competitive vibe. I like to focus on player experiences in the world rather than a set of battles.

I am for a vibe that's...

Just fun and a little light-hearted. These are games at the end of the day. I would for someone to be in a bad headspace, because I ran a game too serious for them. There are nitty-gritty, combat-loving DMs out there. I’m not one of them.

I think metagaming...

Isn’t fun for anyone. If I know someone is metagaming, I will call them out. A player can know a ton about the world and monsters, but a character is learning as they go.

My perfect party mix is

A bunch of characters people want to play. If you don’t have a healer, there might be more healing potions available. No tank, no problem. Magic items can help with that. I want everyone to be having a good time.
