About Sydda

Hey there! I’m Sydda (they/them), a writer and improviser by trade, a chaotic queer, and I’ve been DM-ing for the last several years. I love running games that center characters and players above all else. I’m not much of a rules lawyer but don’t mind getting a little crunchy here and there. I’m happy to run games of any genre, ranging from fantastical horror to oops all bits, as long as the party is having fun! I especially love running games for fellow queer folk, neurodivergent folk, and first time players – you’re always welcome at my table. If you’re a Dimension 20 or NADDPod fan, we’ll probably get along wonderfully.

My favorite shows/movies are

I am a ~film student~ so you probably shouldn't trust my opinions on movies, but some of my favorites are Clue (1985), Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), Shiva Baby (2020), and the very recent horror comedy Hell of a Summer (2025)

When I'm not running games I'm...

Writing movies! I'm working on an MFA in TV+Screenwriting, so when I'm not planning adventures for the table, I'm probably writing them for the screen. I mostly love genre film - sci-fi, magical realism, horror, and mysteries, all with a dash of ridiculousness and humor.

How Sydda runs games

I typically run games that focus more on characters and story than the strict mechanics or rules. I think the rule book should make the game more exciting, rather than slowing down the game. I also like to check in regularly with my players to know what they like and are most excited about playing. I like running games with rich world building and characters, and a healthy amount of bits.
