About Chris
Hey everyone! I'm Chris and I love the art of story and storytelling. Away from the table, I’m a professional screenwriter and film director with some experience in acting as well. I’ve written, directed, and produced one feature film so far and I’m currently in the process of getting my follow up off the ground. I bring my love and knowledge of storytelling and performing to my games and believe my experience in those crafts helps me be a better GM. Additionally, like many of you, I have had a deep love affair with games all my life. Board games, card games, video games, and of course--TTRPGs. I grew up playing both D&D and Cyberpunk and got back into TTRPGs as an adult about 5 years ago. While I do have some experience being a player, most of my time at the tables has been spent in the role of GM.

How Chris runs games
I love roleplaying and my games will feature that aspect heavily (though I only expect my players to roleplay to the extent that they're comfortable). Overall, I run a very balanced game that brings a little bit of everything to the table. That said, every campaign and every player is different, so I try to tailor-fit things to my players and what they enjoy most. While I do love a good tactical battle and scenarios that call for high levels of strategy, I also keep combat as fast-paced as possible, not allowing game mechanics to bog things down too much. At the end of the day, telling a good, engaging story is what really matters. My games are also deeply immersive. I put a ton of effort into providing a quality experience for my players–their enjoyment of the game is always my number one focus!

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
Me :)
I prep by
I do flow charts, outlines, and lots of other writing. I prep maps (or create them from scratch), minis, music and sounds, and any other assets that are needed to tell the story in the best way possible. Lastly, before every session, I review my notes, players' sheets, and stat blocks.
My games focus on...
Collaborating with the players to build and experience a unique and engaging story together.
Chris's ideal table
My table is all about the fun of creating unique and engaging stories. While I do use humor occasionally, my games will usually have a gritty and grounded tone. That said, I totally support my players getting silly and being scoundrels who never take things too seriously. At the end of the session, if everyone had fun and a few laughs, it’s mission accomplished.

I love it when a player
I love when a player surprises me and thinks out of the box to find a creative solution to an obstacle I’ve set before them.
I think it's a red flag when players...
Criticize or pass judgment on others at the table. That kind of thing isn't tolerated in my game.
I think min/maxing...
I don't have a problem with min/maxing so long as your character build is in line with the narrative you tell for that character. I want the PC's choices to make sense both in game and in relation to their build choices.
