About Sparrow

I'm non binary and am also a fierce ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. I am passionate about consent and safety tools in every gaming space. I have been so blessed to have many people in the TTRPG space introduce me to a variety of systems and I love the opportunity to play and GM different systems. I got my start GMing Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 edition and have had the opportunity to GM both crunchy and highly story focused systems. I'm always learning and love collaborative storytelling. I am eager to help you tell your story!

I got started GMing...

After high school graduation, I really wanted to play and my friends wanted to play too but they were all a little wary of GMing so I dove in head first and have loved it ever since. I have learned so much in my time GMing and the biggest thing I've learned is there is always more to learn!

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

Pathfinder 2e, Dread and FATE Core (and try to make my own version of FATE accelerated when me and those stranded on the island want something lighter, so it's sort of a cheat part of the answer, but it was so hard to pick just three systems!)

When I'm not running games I'm...

Playing video games, doing the endless amount of chores around the home, chatting with friends on Discord. I try to get out and get some Vitamin D and exercise though I'm admittedly bad about doing that part.

How Sparrow runs games

I love making high stakes combats that are highly influenced by the story and subsequently have dire consequences in the game. I really enjoy tying the character's back stories and NPCs into the game and there being a large emotional investment in the game from both sides of the GM screen

I deal with rules issues by...

Trying to set expectations up front with everyone, and then I will allow some discussion during the session but I don't want the game to get bogged down by rules but I don't want to shut down conversations, so I will make it clear that I'm making a ruling in the moment but we can talk later

Sparrow's ideal table

The type of players that would fit well at my table are the ones eager to interact with the NPCs. The ones with characters with back stories and personalities that make their characters personally invested in the story (not expected for every or even most quests, but a driven character is a character I love GMing for). The general vibe is jovial

I am for a vibe that's...

lighthearted and fun. I aim for a balanced game in regards to combat and combat does have consequences and the story is taken seriously but I don't want it to be Game of Thrones serious, more Neverafter campaign on Dimension 20 serious

I love it when a player

Makes an in character quip that makes the table laugh
