About me

Hello brave adventurers! I'm Taylor, the Sliverblade Game Master. I'm a high school teacher, a dad, and a big fan of TTRPGs. I've found that being a GM has lead me and my friends on so many adventures, and fun memories that we all share, and it's why I want to start being the GM for you and your party. I've taught dozens of people how to play who were brand new to TTRPGs, and I specialize in helping people with their first game, or even first campaign! I like to play games where the characters are heroes, and I like to give a cinematic focus to story, action, mystery and intrigue. I've ran games in D&D 5e, Pathfinder 1e, Pathfinder 2e, Starfinder, Monster of the Week, Masks, and The Quiet Year. I'm always willing to learn a new system, so if you'd like to play something not on this list, let me know!

GM Style

I'm a story first narrator, who loves to focus the game on heroes who have epic highs, devastating lows, and great stories to tell. If you want to start playing, and need a good guide into the hobby I would love to tell you all about my favorite systems, and help you get started.

I wish I could select all the tags for Taylor, he is an excellent GM. Before we had Taylor GM a game for us I had never played and I honestly had never even looked into DND as something I’d like to do. My brothers thought it would be something I enjoyed, and Taylor showed me that they were definitely correct. He walked me through creating my character and helped me build her into the person I wanted her to be. He paid attention to even the littlest details of my back story and he made sure to tie those elements into the campaign. I asked and reasked questions all the time for our first session and he patiently walked me through how to play my character and answered all of my questions while still keeping everyone else who was more experienced entertained and involved. He provided and suggested materials to help me keep track of my spells, weapons, and general game play. As our sessions went on (and with a lot of help from Taylor) I was able to figure out how to correctly interact during the story telling parts and I knew what to do in combat. With his guidance and interaction I very quickly started to love the game. Taylor builds very intricate worlds and story lines that have fun twists and turns that kept us on our toes. His storytelling is awesome and it’s as if he really embodies each character as we interacted with them; he did different voices, attitudes, and personalities that really matched the characters he was presenting us with. Taylor helped make sure that everyone was included in every session and he was able to work the story around times when one of the people had to miss a session or we weren’t able meet up. After we finished our first campaign with Taylor, we very quickly went in for another and he developed a storyline and helped us build new characters with a lot of ease. At this point I had played with the idea of gming my own campaign, and Taylor helped me build a storyline and world that I could be proud of. He supported me in learning the rules and learning how to support the members in my own party. Taylor is the perfect GM for new players, more experienced players, and the people in between. He really created an amazing and fun adventure for my friends and I to complete, and we will most definitely be doing more with him in the future!

He is a tallented story teller and very encouraging and patient with new players and encouraging of experienced ones. In my experience with him as a GM he was very good at balancing the interests and passions of various players to make for a well balanced and exciting campaign.

Taylor does an excellent job adapting to multiple skill levels. In the several campaigns he's run for me and my friends, he is quick to see which players might need more help figuring out what their character is capable of, either in rules or in roleplay, and to make gentle suggestions on what they might do. He's never overbearing and tries to encourage players to make their own decisions, and loves to build worlds around the actions and stories of the players. He sometimes will even work with a player mid-session to create more unique and fun lore for the world, talking with them about what they believe is right for their character and where they come from to actively craft the story in front of us. He's very good at doing so quickly, too, so it doesn't take the momentum out of a game. This isn't to say he doesn't play well with experienced players, either. In most of the games, I was the most experienced one there, and he still made sure that I wasn't left out either. The action was always spread as evenly as possible across all the players at the table, and I was allowed a lot of freedom to play unique characters with odd abilities. When we were playing 5e, he was happy to look over UA content or features from the newest books and confirm whether he felt it was fine in his game and for someone's character. In PF2e, he knew how to treat the rarity tags on features and feats and was always open to hear what people were hoping to make their characters into. No matter what system we were playing in, he was ready to guide new players into a comfortable space that they were happy with and hoping for, and was willing to let those who were more experienced find their own path and experiment as they pleased. I highly recommend Taylor to anyone looking for an experienced GM to guide newer players through a system, but I think older players will enjoy his style, too! He makes the world feel alive and makes sure everyone gets to see their effect on the NPCs and environment around them!

10/10, best GM I've played with. When I played with him it was the first time playing for 5 of our 6 party members, including myself. He taught all of us how to play and led us on a wonderful adventure. My character had started as an idea that was a joke, and he helped me turn it into a character I'm still proud of today. As a GM he always puts player agency first. Whether it was accidentally killing a primary villain the first time he showed up (I didn't know how death saves worked and punched him while he was unconscious), or pursuing a not so serious goal of awakening a goat, he would never tell us no and still make the story work around us.

I was a first time player, but Taylor helped me set up my character and explained all about how D&D works! He's super helpful and knows a lot, especially about making your character exactly who you want them to be!
