About Sleepy
I am a GM who's been hosting DnD 5e specifically for ~4 years and have been writing both in my homebrew world's universe and as a hobby for nearly a dozen years. I write, read, and play in my free time. My experience with ttrpg systems is mostly-contained to DnD 5e, but I've played in a few other systems (Kids on Bikes and Monster of the Week, most notably). I've spent about equal time as DM and player over this time, playing in a couple dozen oneshots and 4 campaigns while having hosted a similar number of oneshots and 5 campaigns of my own. I'm usually making homebrew, prepping for my sessions, playing some game, or writing any one of multiple of my stories to pass the time in my free time, which is usually anytime I'm not asleep or working. I started DnD 5e play while I was still in school and latched onto it. I'd known about ttrpgs for a while, and wanted to participate. I was a player first, but I always knew I'd want to make and run a campaign of my own. The challenge of making a world from scratch is a process I'm familiar with, and it satisfies an itch I have to create what I find interesting. I draw a lot of inspiration from the media I consume and from conversations I have with others. I have a soft spot for sci-fi fantasy and body horror specifically. I try to keep content I make/create tactically sound and 'balanced', as the tactical aspect of ttrpg systems greatly satisfies the numbers side of my brain. I like to balance, test, and rebalance a lot.

How Sleepy runs games
I try to keep an overall balance of roleplay and combat/tactical situations with my campaigns. There is the occasional stretch of time where there is much more than the other, but I like to keep variety in what I run. I thoroughly enjoy characters more than anything. Character creation, helping a player create who they want, is important to me. This enjoyment of characters leads me to make characters in world that have depth and arcs of their own (should the players want to explore them). The players I've had have always enjoyed how I make the NPCs feel like real, breathing entities in the world. I also greatly enjoy making and sharing fantastical settings and allowing my players a great deal in freedom in exploration. I often make plots open (i.e. sandbox-y) and leave a lot up to the party. I fill my environments and biomes with unique alchemical ingredients, talk with the tinkerers to make unique gadgets, and generally am lenient with antics players come up. However, I can, admittedly, be strict in the rules. I tend to analyze specific word choices used in descriptions of abilities, for example. Balance is also important to me. I'm not afraid to rebalance abilities/items/spells/mechanics to feel more fair to play with (don't get me started on DnD 5e martials and casters, I'll talk your head off). I have the opinion that something should be adjusted if it is too weak or strong and not be left to rot or shine.

My favorite trope is...
Body horror. It's not something I usually implement to a great degree in my campaigns, but I find body-horror, or more generally tropes that relate to how the body works, to be incredibly interesting. Last Stand gets an honorable mention as well as Determination.
Sleepy's ideal table
I believe the players who enjoy my tables the most are ones who like to hear the stories of characters, both their own, their party's, and the stories of the characters they meet in a campaign.

I think min/maxing...
Alright. Building a character to be as efficient as they can be is fun. Powergaming is the actual problem.
