About Arthur
Hello! You can call me Arthur, he/him, 29 years old. I've only been directly involved with D&D for about 3 years, but was first introduced to it back in high school through YouTube shows (Force Grey, Heroes & Halfwits, and later Dimension 20). I have a little experience as a player, having done some one-shots and currently playing in two Actualplay campaigns. I DM three campaigns currently, two bi-weekly and one monthly campaign, all set in the Forgotten Realms. I like to have decent preparations, often playing with multiple ideas behind-the-scenes and adapting to the actions of my players. I like to play NPCs, I was a Drama kid in high school (not much has changed) and I'll always do voices for characters and try to make NPCs feel distinct. I'm also working on my flexibility, so I like not to over-prepare, to leave some things unwritten/undecided and open to Improv. I want to start hosting games because I want to experience more D&D and increase my understanding of the game, and what better way than by playing?

I became a GM because
My friends and I all wanted to try the game. We started with someone else as DM, but they weren't having any luck, and everyone else thought I'd be good at it. I took the reigns, and haven't looked back.
My favorite books are
I've always loved fiction, and especially Fantasy fiction books. Some books that've had the biggest impact on my life were the Percy Jackson & The Olympians series (Rick Riordan), The Night Angel Trilogy (Brent Weeks), and The Magic Treehouse series (Mary Pope Osborne).
When I'm not running games I'm...
Working a day job, singing, writing, prepping for game sessions, playing video games, editing recordings, exercising, spending time with my partner, cooking, eating, and sleeping. That about sums up the majority of most of my days.
How Arthur runs games
Generally speaking, I like a Narrative-Heavy, Player-Driven story, I like breathing life into the NPCs, and into the monsters. I encourage my players to Roleplay, and try to present plenty of opportunities to facilitate that. I lean very heavily towards "rule-of-cool" style play, I like to let my players be creative and imaginative with their solutions and to come up with ways to use/interpret the rules-as-written to make those things happen in ways that follow the game logic. I'm also a big fan of home-brewing items, it opens infinite doors to possibility.
