About Sean

My name is Sean, I'm a video game developer and avid fan many TTRPGs. Games are in my DNA, and I've been GMing for around 25 years. I started playing D&D 3rd edition with my friends on weekends and never looked back. As a GM or as a player, I love the stories and community TTRPGs bring. I have a background in theater, computer science, philosophy, and professional writing and moderation for humor websites, all of which has been instrumental in my GMing style. My friends will tell you that I'm a well-prepared GM who balances a mastery of the rules with a good sense of humor.

I became a GM because

When I was young I really wanted to play DnD but didn’t know anybody who was already playing, so I studied the rulebooks and taught my friends. It turned out, I had a passion for it and it was a lot of fun too, so I jumped into it and learned to GM as I went.

My favorite shows/movies are

Evil Dead II Aliens The Matrix Start Trek TNG Twin Peaks

When I'm not running games I'm...

Designing and building video games, playing guitar, walking my two adorable dogs, and often planning or running various campaigns for my friends and family.

How Sean runs games

My games tend to be grounded, gritty, character-driven stories, full of high-stakes and meaningful choices for the players. In my games you can expect engaging roleplay, lots of player freedom, and a safe and inclusive space for all. And also, you can expect plenty of my own brand of absurdity along the way. I don't view my games as puzzles to solve, or a series of tactical decisions, rather a problem with many branching solutions, all with their own unique challenges and consequences. A lot of my stories feature elements of investigation, intrigue, and light horror, although not exclusively so. I run both original campaigns and published adventures. With either, I do a lot of planning to make the adventure my own and tailor it to the players.
