I got started GMing...
Truthfully, I got started running games because I wanted to play, and no one else was willing to run. In the spirit of the question, I kept running games because I enjoy world-building and want to share my worlds
My favorite books are
I love Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere, particularly Mistborn. I also enjoy Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. References to these show up with fair frequency in my world.
How ScienceWhizz runs games
The games I run are low-combat and focus on player stories. I ask my players to give me goals their characters have, and I shape my games around those goals. I try to make roleplaying a central focus in my roleplaying game. Through the power of clever ruleplay, all combat is avoidable if your characters are willing to pay the price of doing so. This is also probably the place to say I treat the rules as guidelines more than actual rules. The rules are there as a framework so we can all agree on the limits of what is possible, but this needs to be balanced with the rule of cool and the story we are all trying to tell. The GM gets all sorts of free passes on flavor rulings. "The heavy doors slam open, and all the torches in the chamber go out in the BBEG's wake" sort of thing. Let's let the players get some of those moments without having to worry about exactly how it was done.

I deal with rules issues by...
A lot of the time, when a player asks a question, I'll do my best to figure out what they want to do. This allows them influence on the world they are in. We are all telling this story together after all.
My games focus on...
I really like role-playing in my role-playing game. I try to focus my games on the characters in the world. This means the players get a lot of chances to shine and explore their characters' stories, with a fun cast of NPCs along the way.
ScienceWhizz's ideal table
I enjoy games, both as a player and a GM, where I can see the characters being actual people in the world they are in. This tends to favor a more serious atmosphere. This does not mean we can't have fun and silly moments. On the contrary, those moments are enhanced and enriched by their low frequency. The Dungeon Master's Guide has 8 player types. I fall under Actor and Storyteller, and think those who also fall into one or both of those will enjoy my games most.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
I have a rule at my table that all combat is avoidable if you (the pc) are willing to pay the price. If you enjoy figuring out monster motives and diving into the moral gray areas of fighting, you will enjoy my playing at my table.
