About Samuel Jones
Hello! My name is Samuel Jones (Formerly Ward) and I've been a storyteller/GM for almost ten years. I started my adventure at the age of seventeen and since then have fallen in love with TTRPG's! I love telling collaborative stories, helping players explore their characters, and creating worlds for said characters to explore. I'm a firm believer in the rule of cool, and I take a lot of inspiration from my days doing improv when it comes to allowing players the leeway they need to tell the story they want to tell. My GM style is fast paced, high octane, but balanced with slower pacing between grand scenes and impactful events. Hope to see you at my table!

I became a GM because
I grew up doing improv and went to school for dramatic arts at one point so it all kind of clicked for me when I first sat down to roleplay. Soon after playing for the first time I wanted to run my own thing so I went ahead, built a whole world, and did it.
My favorite system of all Time is
Vampire the Masquerade 5th edition (V5), I say that having played probably with over ten systems all together. I like the easy to learn but hard to master element, where systems seem to feed into each other and so effortlessly coalesce.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Painting, reading, and studying for my psychology degree. Also listening to World of Darkness lore videos.
How Samuel Jones runs games
My GM style is heavily focused on roleplay, which is why I love the storyteller system in the World of Darkness franchise, and other story focused systems.

I deal with rules issues by...
I usually arbitrate in the moment. I then go back and make sure my interpretation was suitable, and make a ruling going forward if it wasn't. If I do make that ruling it changes the way I run the game from then on. I try to be as consistent as possible.
My games focus on...
My games I would say focus on the personal journeys of the player characters more then anything, tying them into a story that helps to illuminate who they are. Helping a player realize the potential of a PC is a really rewarding experience, and I try to build my games to do that.
When it comes to voices
There are some voices I can do really well, and some characters I feel demand a voice that fits them. That said I use my regular voice for characters I think it makes sense for. I usually alter cadence, intonation, and volume though with every character at least a bit.
Samuel Jones's ideal table
My tables are typically casual with above table discussion and pretty intense when the game gets started. I try to keep a positive atmosphere so that when the game is going players remember that they can go above table at any time to speak out of character about any safety concerns. Anyone at my table can expect a lot of focus devoted to the story during the game itself, and an emphasis on roleplaying. That said I also like to get to know players as I feel like it helps to foster a sense of comfort when the roleplaying becomes more developed over the course of a game.

High power thrill rides
I love it when a player
Is excited about their character and willing to take risks at the table.
I think metagaming...
Metagaming can be understandable in certain circumstances when it supplements knowledge a PC would have anyway. For example, a player telling another player what their characters phone lock screen looks like. While that is technically metagaming it's something the PCs would know for sure.
